My weekend fun car does around 5mpg when driven enthusiastically Glenn, and the fuel it needs costs £11.35 a gallon. Does that make you feel any better?

I was having an insomniac moment a couple of weeks ago. Somehow i ended up working out *how* much my scoob has cost me to date.
Scary thing is, now i can't stop thinking about it, and keep thinking of bits i've missed!
Until i get in, start the engine, and have the scooby installed again!!!
John.

I worked out that changing the scoob (20 mpg) to a more economical (30 ish mpg car) based on 10k miles per year - would only save a few hundred quid!
Hence I still have a scoob and dont give a crap about fuel consumption anymore!

On Saturday I went from Bristol to Manchester and back on a single tank.
356.1 miles 55.3 litres Optimax = 29.27mpg Anyone broken the magic three-o??
Of course it was a tedious 68-70mph motorway crawl but still, shows you can get reasonable mpg out of the old girl if you can control your urges
The worst bit was watching 2 XK8's and a DB7 potter past and resist the urge to say hello Scratch that, the worst bit was watching Novas, Vectras and a banged out Renault 5 trundle by
I only saw one Scoob, right at the start on the M5 ... where were you all hiding??

37 mpg must have had the car on a trailer for most of the time or the missus filled her up and didnt reset the trip counter. In three years I have never broken the 300 mark and usually put in fule when the light comes on, taking about 50 litres. So I know there would be a further 40/50 miles from the tank if I ran it dry. Are you guys using this formula to work out what you WOULD get to a tank or is the reading what you get on the forecourt?

just filled up last week (optimax) warning light had been on for about 5 miles 265 miles when light came on again, mainly B roads and town so 90% off boost my 02 wrx.

I'm just going into an STi with PPP. My last toy, an Ultima GTR averaged out at about 10 - 12 mpg. 5 or 6 was not uncommon! Still 6.7L of iron V8 can do that!

Blimey! Not difficult to spot the drivers with the lead wellies on!
Always think it feels better when visiting one of Mr Shell's garages to think of it as a little investment

Only just got mine and worked out mpg on my first tank - 23mpg. (Esso super unleaded - wanted Optimax but was too desperate to go hunting around for a Shell Garage)
Seems like thats perfectly normal - I'll be using just optimax from now on and I'll try a tank driving like an old lady and a tank driving like I stole it and see what the difference is, lol should be quite a bit.
As other people have said, I didn't buy the Scoob for it's fuel economy
