Cool Guess what I found??

Cleaning the inside of my car today - all the plastic trim needed a good clean.

As I was cleaning around the heater controls I noticed a black platic cover over where the A/C switch would be .... I thought I would clean behind it, so removed it - and, guess what??

The switch slot is there AND the words A/C! Now, what does the pushbutton look like that fits in this square hole? and is it illuminated at all?

Anyone know where I could get this switch? I could use it to activate or operate something else!

If you saw a car on a forecourt with that switch and A/C next to it would you assume (maybe wrongly) that it had A/C? And if the dealer didn't mention A/C anywhere in the advertising literature then its tuff luck isn't it?

Erm, that's why it's got the little plastic blanking plate masking it off...

Talking

PMSL - you haven't got aircon ?????

Your car will be about as saleable as a modified, grey imported, bugeye with a gold steering wheel.

I'd flog it now before the summer

sounds like the words of a man who forgot to spec it on their car

while it saps a lot, its not even close to 25%

i find it VERY useful if (when?) stuck in traffic in the summer. lets face it - if your car isn't going anywhere it is therefore producing 0 bhp... and 25% of 0 is 0

I think you'll find IIRC, that when you're stuck in traffic, the A/C won't be on anyway. It switches off if the cars not moving!!!

I think it only starts working after the car moves for the first time, after the a/c is switched on.

Who cares as it switches off automatically when you put your foot down, I get all the BHP when I demand it!

Mine doesn't.

I wouldn't want a daily driver without aircon, one of those things once you've got it you never want to go back.

Default Just think in reverse

On a cold morning you start the car and put the heaters on to warm the car up. On a hot day you start the car and put the a/c on to chill it a bit. Surely it works with the car not moving.

its also very usefull in the rain
notice how a car has all windows steamed up when it rains
pain in the *** cause you have to keep turning the heat up ,untill it gets to hot inside.
AC on with the heater dries the excess water out of the air (dehumidifies)
Very comfortable and all the windows are clear.
Try it next time it rains (probably tomorrow).

*splutter* Damn, there goes the coffee over the monitor

Pete, I like your thinking. Sneaky.

Any Subaru dealer will be able to find the part number for the switch from their database, and will sell you the switch on its own.

Cheers,
Nick.
