HELP! Prodrive/Best Geom Settings STi8 ??????
#1

Really hitting a brick wall with this one. Got Prodrive springs but a check has revealed that the Geom is all over the place (Different camber values L & R etc) Also there seems to be conflicting advice even from Prodrive on here with threads stating "As much camber as you can get" whereas the info given to the dealer with the springs by Prodrive gives specific but quite low values (which I definitely haven't got anyway so haven't got what I paid for hence no grip from the front on cornering & plenty unwanted sideways action when accelerating!) Could someone either give my Mike Wood's Tel No or post on here advice as to what the best fast road settings ought to be when running on 18" wheels. If as I suspect the whole issue is subjective then I'm open to suggestions so I can present the guys doing the adjustments with some figures.
Cheers
Steve

My solution was to go to Powerstation and let them sort it out! Like you, my Sti8 has had the prodrive springs installed, but whoever fitted them (the dealer I think!) had made a lame effort to get the geometry right. It is spot on now and feels much better!
It had virtually no camber on the front, now its about 1'20'', also the toe was all over the place.

After reading all the positive posts about Powerstation I would be there like a shot but it's a 350 mile round trip. At present I've got -1.3 left & -0.8 right for camber with total toe 0mm on the front & -1.5 left & -1.0 right with total toe 0.2mm on the rear. Booked in with Prosport closer to home but they would like figures.

When I went to see them they were inches deep in snow so I had to wait until I was almost back in Bristol before I could really test out the settings!

when I get home I could post the settings my car is on now, if that helps?

Front camber = -1.25 degrees
Front toe = 0.00 degrees
Rear toe = 0.1 degrees per side (0.2 degrees total).
Don't forget to drive the car for a few miles before adjusting to the above settings and remember the tyre pressures (33psi front & 31psi rear).
Thanks, Nick.

Front Camber -1.6 & -0.9 L&R
Front Toe, more on RHS than LHS
Rear Toe LHS Negative, RHS Positive
Your literature highlights section 11 as vital but it seems to be a recurring theme that the geometry doesn't get done by the book so the "Full Benefit" is not being felt.

Yes Nick I probably will, BUT, the fact that they didn't set it up correctly first time means that they either couldn't (Didn't have sensitive enough equipment? or someone who could do the job accurately) or couldn't be bothered to take the time required.
Either way it doesn't instill one with much confidence.
Steve (PPP,Prodrive Suspension, Prodrive 18" Bright Flitters,Prodrive Gearknob...so a bit of Prodrive Kit then!!)

when i got my prodrive springs got fitted it came with no instructions-kindly copied off scoobynet by myself and the subaru dealer put toe in on the front and no rear toe saying this is the best?
i now run a set of avons and if i put the back pressure above 28 the back feels decidely twitchy-likely needs geometry redone

Places like TSL and Powerstation, (and many more) have real good reputations about 4Wheel alignment ![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Unfortunately spoilt by some Dealers that use 4 pieces of string and some Chalk on then the floor then call it Alignment![Frown](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Tony
Buy Prodrive springs and get them fitted and Aligned properlly
