Default importing through japancars? how can it be worth it?

ok so this is the email i got from them

2004 Model STi in Blue is 3,165,000JPY
402,000JPY Options package includes;
Privacy glass/HIDS/Drivers control centre diff/17 inch BBS Alloys
349,000JPY Container packing, Marine insurance, Prepaid freight

3,916.000JPY Total

thats 19,400 pounds at todays exchange rate

so tehn you pay import tax, vat, sva fees and anyhting else? takes it to over 25k, whats the point? you can buy a car new or almost new in the uk for the same price or less even, what has anyone else done to get a new sti??

yes but you just roll up with ur cash and buy one, ian lit is a good guy but you can buy them alot cheaper in the uk if you look around. I mean personally given the choice of buy a 500-1000mile car already in uk to wait 10 weeks to order one i would buy the one here especially if its 2-3 k cheaper. I thought importing urself is supposed to be cheaper, 25K+ might be ok for some just looking at cheapest options

If you have £25k to spend on a Jap spec STi take a look at http://www.wickedkit.com/shop/index.php?p_mfr=1 plenty of nearly new models there available.

Why, what's the difference between a JDM MY03 & a MY04 ?
Square boot lock I thought.

Wink

With the exchange rate sitting at 10+ year highs Id look into doing it yourself and cutting these lot out. Spot rate at the 204 against GBP.

All IMHO.
