That's a rather difficult to question to answer without knowing a little more about your insurance profile and so-on.
If the only criteria are that it's 4WD and has four doors, a 2.0GL or a Sport will do you fine. What about a Mitsubishi Pajero? - proper woman's car!

£5-6K will get you an average mileage '96-97 UK Turbo or a Japanese specification WRX of similar age. UK car has 208bhp as standard but can easily be modified to deliver more.
WRX has 240bhp as standard but this is on Japanese specification, 100 octane fuel. You'll need to use Optimax plus octane booster to be sure of safe running over here.

for that money you'll get a good early (93-96) jap wrx import or uk turbo 2000. you MAY be able to get a newer one with higher mileage.
make sure u do your homework and THOROUGHLY check the car out tho.. there are a LOT of sheds out there.
bear in mind, the 90k service costs £500-600+ if u cant/dont do it yourself... just something to bear in mind if u buy a car with 85k on the clock.
and do a search for scoobyecu.. just pre-empting your next question

Erm... actually they almost all fit your requirements so far - just pick one you can afford
Seriously, if it's got a bonnet scoop and is RHD then it's turbocharged. The UK spec cars have 208bhp up to '98 and 215bhp for '99 and '00, but can be very easily tuned to about 240-250bhp if you fancy a bit extra. The Prodrive Performance Pack is the official tuning package for these cars (the exact details vary depending on model year), but there are plenty of other ECU (chip) and exhaust upgrades out there that achieve similar results.
Do make absolutely sure you know exactly which mods have been fitted to any car you look at - get a detailed list from the seller. You'll need it for insurance purposes anyway, but it'll help no end if you have any problems.
If you don't feel the need of support from the franchised dealer network, then you can also consider Japanese spec cars which are badged WRX or STI. The WRX has a power output which again varies with year, and is the 'standard' Japanese-spec turbo car. Harder-edged versions are available from Subaru Technica International (STI) - STI cars have upgraded engines, harder suspension and various other modifications that can make for an exhilerating if uncomfortable ride.
Japanese-spec cars are mapped to run on high octane Japanese fuel, which means that on UK fuel they will develop less power and can suffer damage. Check that the car has been remapped for UK fuel (almost certainly 97 RON Super Unleaded and definitely not 95 RON premium). If it hasn't, you'll need to run on a mixture of super unleaded plus octane booster, and make sure that the car has always been run on such a cocktail. Running on low octane fuel risks severe engine damage.
There's an excellent (though well out of date) FAQ here, which describes the different versions in some detail. Note that there are now a lot more options available with regard to tuning and servicing than when the FAQ was written.
Do check servicing, fuel and insurance costs before you take the plunge - they can be crippling. 'Nuff said.
