03 wrx standard BHP/PPP/???
I did a Rolling Road @ Clive Attowes in Norwich on sunday.I have a stardard car ,except a scoobyworld afterburner .I was expecting the normal 220 bhp ,But no managed to get 254.6 BHP ! .I run it on optimax and unleaded in an emergency .I cannot see the point in having ppp for such alittle increase ,or will it increase it by alot more ? It has 13k on the clock .

a ful Afterburner full system or just back box?
wouldn't have thought just a BB would give 25bhp.. full system yes.. BB no IMO

My 2003 WRX was rolling roaded at the xtremely conservative R.R. @ Star Performance when it had 2,000 miles on the clock. New back box only, custom made with not an inch of new piepwork - fitted to standard sytem - it made just shy of 240 BHP.
I would not be surprised if the new WRX's were a bit understated - seem to see lots of similar figures, always generally higher than 224 or so quoted.
Remapped for Optimax according to Subaru - Opinions?

Not driven one myself but the seat of the pants reports I've heard suggest they are substantially quicker than the bugeyes, suggesting to me that Subaru are back to understating the power...which is nice

I would have been interested to know what a PPP '03 WRX would have got on the same RR on the same day to be honest so that a proper comparison could be made on BHP/torque/etc...
Not sure its time to write off the PPP just yet!

Has anyone had ppp and not been happy/very happy with the RR Bhp figure ?
I know of one 03 wrx which had ppp fitted and came up with well below the 265 bhp figure stated by prodrive

I had a sti-9 with ppp and got a shock when it only made 256bhp, after taking back to a dealer, they discoverd a problem with the map.
A re-run a couple of week later made 301 bhp.

Hello Chris,
How is life treating you these days - I have been enjoying my black 1.6 Focus courtesy car for nearly two weeks now. Moved house yet?

Nah it doesnt do anything to the warranty really, and no probs with det that ive found as it would be much further up the exhause that it would happen.
Most garages are fairly lenient when it comes to backboxes......but if your that bothered about it, just keepthe original, and if it ever goes back to the garage the whip the new one off and put the original one back on....only takes 20 mins if that.
