Doing exactly the same Andy. HKS EVC going on next week at Jap Innovations but they reccommend that I put the Fuel Cut on if I plan to raise the boost to a safe 1.2 - 1.3.
Quoted £150.00 but they tell me its more than worth it. Trouble is its getting expensive. To be safe I'm upgrading the fuel pump and then need the obligatory Knocklink.
I take it you rate the EVC as a good bit of kit?

Hi Rob, did you mean they advised you not to disconnect the fuel cut?? as i thought fuel cut happened around the 1.3 bar mark?? was 150 quid to fit the EVC or was that to disable fuel cut?? sorry it sounds a muddle
but i have to agree thats its certainly a good bit of kit and i have wanted one for ages now, just getting the money to do it was the problem

I have a Dawes device fitted to my MY00 but the boost keeps creeping up, from 1.2 bar to 1.35 at the moment. The fuel cut comes in in 5th gear, someone mentioned getting a fuel cut defender but I am wondering why my boost keeps going up without me tampering with it? Perhaps this should be in another forum?

Andy,
I bought the HKS EVC second hand. Jap Innovations have told me it will be 3.5 hours labour to fit it. They advised that with this I could push the boost up to a safe 1.1 with no additional equipment. However, if I wanted 1.2 I'd need a knocklink. Now apparently my ECU will only allow a maximum of 1.2 before fuel cut (MY UK97) which means I will need a FCD at approx £150.00 (plus 0.5 hours fitiing). I can then raise to a max safe boost of 1.3.
Rich Wild thinks I may or may not get away with an uprated fuel pump if I was running 1.3. Rather than coming away and having to go back I've elected to uprate it whilst its there. With these I'm aiming for a reliable 280-290bhp.
Unfortunately I'm no mechanic so I rely heavily on the advice of others. Thankfully Jap Innovations appear to be reputable and their own cars (Rich also has a UK97 running in excess of 380bhp) testify to their knowledge.
You dont have an email address in your profile but we seem to be going down a similar route. I could forward you some detailed emails from them if it would be useful.
Best regards
Rob
