I have a Road Angel which came with their Laser Detector bundled as part of the package. The GPS side of things works a treat, no false triggers, easy to use, easy to update.

I think the Laser Detector is a bit of a gimmick - I don't trust it. Also, there is no protection against hand held radar. I'm looking at buying a Bel 550 detector - as it seems to get good reviews for most cameras/radar/lasers.

PS: Is that the Belper on the A6?

Agree with that - its saved me a few times (from hidden cameras on roads with inappropriate speed limits!)

ps - laser detectors are useless as they usually only trigger when youve been targetted by laser - they generally dont give advance warning.

Me and my mate where on about radar detecters last night and in my area (cumbria) theres hardly any fixed speed cam's so the 550 is much better for me than the road angle

generally???? they dont! full stop.
the only way to avoid getting done with a hand held laser is to by a laser jammer like the lrc100,ive got one along with a micro road pilot which is a gps camera detector with a bigger database than any other in the country...together they are the ****** nuts

although if it's an either or i wood go for roadangel over the 550 but as hinted at i suppose it depends on where & what yer using it for but it does still get annoying with all the auto doors etc

they are not actually illegal,it is a grey area as far as the law is concerned, but generally considered non-criminal.If questioned never admit to the laser jammers true function. They also double up as remote control senders to open garage doors for example,so this is the use you should state.
Our best legal advice suggests laser jammers may be considered legal to own and use as there is no statute against the emission of infra red or laser light,as long as it is not causing harm or injury to persons, animals or property.

John Rowling, Safety Camera Partnership "While the legislation has been passed making it illegal to use radar diffusers, there is currently no legislation in place regarding the laser devices," said John Rowling from the Safety Camera Partnership. "Although the government are looking at this important issue.
