Default Handbrake turns in the Snow

Am I right in thinking this will really screw up my centre diff? (MY03 WRX)

Hmmm why do you need to use the handbrake in the snow? this always stumps me as all you need to do is add more power and a bit of lock and the rear should quite happily step out
