Default WRX 03 Question

I'm considering upgrading from a MY98 to a 2003 WRX soon. Are there any points to look out for eg. engine, bodywork, brakes etc?

Ta,

Ken

Nothing really apart from the obvious things to look out for. Most reviews have given them 4 to 5 stars with excellent build quility. Even more fine tuned than the 01 / 02. I’ve had MY03 now 6 weeks and very happy with it. I personally wouldn’t buy one WITH PPP to start with. Maybe upgrade later once used to standard form. The only reason I say this is because there has been a few treads on here with people asking themselves the question ‘is it that much faster than standard’ because they haven’t driven one standard and have nothing to compare with. My advice is go standard THEN upgrade, that way you know if the £1600 has been well spent. My PPP fund is nearly half way there so I guess that in 6 months I find out. But I have to stress with just a scoobysport back box on it... it sounds and performs beyond my expectations.

BUY ONE - YOU WONT REGRET IT.

I would say performance is relative, ive had my 03 wrx for 1 year now and i love it to bits, but I have got used to the power now, I test drove the PPP and I wasnt taken a back by it at all, Im going for a tek 3 and a remap as it offers better value for money, but the downside is the warranty is toast.

hey you only live once. But I wouldnt go for PPP straight off get used to the car and then decide what suits you the best.

A friend has a my99 with decat and remap and compared to the 03 wrx they are completely different cars. The 03 wrx is smoother and more progressive and doesnt feel as fast as what it is due to the ride and sound.

unless you can get a good deal on a used ppp'd car then go for it. :-)

I bought standard then went PPP, the difference is massive, especially the torque. Mine has loosened up nicley with 15,000 miles. It was recently in the garage having some work and they loaned me the demo MY03 WRX without PPP and if felt very tight and dare I say slow!!!! by comparison.

The combination of PPP and 15,000 mile of loosening works a treat!

£1600 has never best been spent.
