Cool Advice wanted...

I'm going to be travelling from London to Pembroke on Tuesday night to catch the ferry to Ireland. Is there anything I need to know / watch out for? I haven't gone west beyond junction 18 on the M4 recently.

- Are there any speed traps?
- Are there any bridge / tunnel tolls, etc?
- Any other useful info?

Any help would be appreciated!!

Mark.

Apart from the obvious Severn Bridge toll (£4.60 IIRC), there are roadworks around the junction between the M4 and M32 where there's a 50mph limit and a speed camera on either side.

The main thing then would be the speed traps on the M4 (and A48/A40 further west) in Wales. Vans could be anywhere, especially on the bridges between Bridgend and Port Talbot, and parked in the laybys west of Pont Abraham. There's also a permanent speed camera each way in the 50mph limit around PT. If caution is your watchword you shouldn't have any particular problems.

M4 often has mobile speed traps, particularly near the turn off for Castle Coombe racing circuit (no idea of the Junction) - saw 1 camera van, 3 bikes and 4 cars in a 10 mile stretch a few months ago!

There's also a large traffic division where the M4 intersects with the M5 so watch you speed.
