Unhappy Should I remove my Sti PPP?

Strange question I know, but the insurance increase is stupid. I've had quotes on a Standard STI which are under the £1000 mark, but with the PPP it's about £1200 plus.

I'm not sure if it can be done, but is it worth removing the PPP.

Cheers
Gareth.

On a 20 grand (plus) car £200 extra for all that fun doesn't seem that bad to me . You know you'll regret it after

It can be done.
Is it worth doing? Dunno, how much more pleasure do you derive from the ppp performance compared to the standard? Personally I couldn't contemplate owning a non-PPP one..so I'd just sell the car if I couldn't comfortably afford to run it.
If you do remove it you should be able to sell it on for something...best bet would probably be find someone with a standard car who wants PPP and swap your bits for his + cash.

I've heard it can be done as my dealer said that they'd been known to remove PPPs to sell cars 2nd hand so people could get more sensible insurance

<Picky mode on> - if you exchange the bits with a non-PPP car, how do you reprogram the key fob?

you can reduce the extra charge for ppp by increasing your excess

Why pay £2k for PPP on a £20k car and then winge about £200? If you want to save £200 then buy a nissan micra.

Apart from this how can delaers take it off as the ECU mods are done on an exchange basis? You could swop it from a PPP to a non-PPP car but the only other way to take it off a car would be if you had a spare standard ECU.

Hang on a minute....I assume you have shelled out £1995 to have it fitted and now you are carping about another £200 a year In three years ownership thats still less than ½ the cost of the PPP. You have strange logic my friend

Thumbs down

if you are under 28 then it is a massive increase! i have just shelled out £2k insurance at 26yrs old with 7yrs ncd , no claims no points no accidents! tesco was £1200 without ppp! but added on for each part of the upgrade separately!

honestly i nearly swapped my car for a 330 sport convertable £700 / year!

but i would not have it without ppp!

oh and i havnt mentioned 18" oz or prodrive springs!

feel for you mate... just pay it and

edited to say L & V wouldnt quote and schofield (subaru) said 4k!

also my premium went up £200 (greenlight) due to 'poor performance in my insurance company in my area' (bollo*ks)
