Hey guys,

I think it might be the same car that we have in the U.S. - a 2.5RS Impreza.

We have had it here since '98.

One question: what size engine does this one have- a 2.5L maybe?

Does anyone know?

Sorry the point I meant to make is that insurance can't be too much of an issue if you have £16500 to spend na new car.

I'm going to assume that this is the standard 2.0L engine that you get in the UK GL & Sport models as it's noted as 125PS where the US 2.5L RS engine is ~170ish.

Alec,
Insurance is a major issue for some.
I can afford a uk turbo, but i cannot afford the insurance. For me, i pay around 300 for a sport, and the lowest i was offered on a turbo was 3500, say 3 years goes by, and i could have bought a new car with what i would have been paying on insurance , don't you think it's abit stupid and a major waiste of money?

Hos : how much ! for one year ?

u must be about 17 ! or have written off so many cars in the past 3 years !! or u live in the dodgiest area in the whole of the UK !

did you have any no claims ? i assume you had quotes much worse if that was the best ?

i agree, total waste of money being paid to them insurance ba*£%rds. and i thought my £717 premium was OTT ! i'm quite lucky !

roll on the day you can get a decent quote and get a turbo !

Insurance is a big deal for some.

I live in London -00 UK Turbo, no mods, 5yrs no claims - no other anythings - £1200 fully comp + I am 30 years old.

Quoted £2500 for a WRXSTI6.

The only quotes I got which were cheap were ones where the broker had me down as an 86 year old granny when I checked the underwriting details.

Thumbs down

Hos,
Insurance is a major issue for me too, I'm paying £2000 a year for a 93 WRX. I know full well what a waste of money it is , but I love my car and i'd rather pay the etra.

You pays your money you take your choice.

To make the matter more gauling, I was in a crash last september, not my fault, but the other party was uninsured. She went to court and got fined £100!! Nows thats justice!

I thought it was a way of shifting all the remaining old cars before the new model comes out!

Steve,
I'm 19, live in the country (as in not in the city) and have had no accidents - except an 18 year old running into the back of me..not my fault though. The UK turbo was 3500 a year and I had a 95 wrx stiv2 for which the insurance quote was 4200 pounds a year (My sister has it now as i couldn't insure it ) . I've decided to wait untill i'm 21 before i get a proper car , and things should change.
Ian

Alec,
Surely she got prosecuted for driving without insurance and having an accident? More than 100 anyway!, what happened? did it come off your insurance?

Hos

I'm in danger of sounding a bit old here.

I didn't even own a car till I was 22, even then a VW Polo Saloon ( Derby!!) - group 4 insurance. Not cool at all, although I thought so at the time.

I don't think insurance companies like young men in fast cars. ( given what I pay the insurers must think I am young which is good news when you get to 30.)
