Yeah was on here the other day , some debate as to whether it's a set up or not as there were no marks on the ground around where the car 'landed' ,also no blood around or fluids from the engine . Makes you think though doesn't it ?

I can see where they're coming from but I'd be about 99% sure that was genuine. What a mess

err its defo for real... it would be some set-up to create that kind of mess to a car..

The thing is I've seen a car that hit a tree and split in two... unfortunatly it had a school friend of mine driving it... it was a few years ago now... he now resides in Wakefield Cemetary The car looked very similar to the Audi... a complete mess!!!!! the lump left the car by about 60ft and oddly too add no fluids around it... i think it was the force of the impact sprayed the rad water all over but the block was intact so no oil.

I've aslo seen a fatal on the m42, a guy in a van was nailed by a wagon, he was very dead at the seen but thier was very little blood... I was one of the first to the van being only 5 cars back, i got the first aid kit and stuff from the van but the poor guy was smashed up propper almost pulverised not a pretty site. I was very obvious he was dead...

oohh the joys of doing 60k a year for 15 years... i used to see a very serious or fatal at least once a week... very scary...

There's some pretty damn horific crash shot @ ogrish.com but don't look if you sqeamish...

Rule #1 though, tree's DON'T take prisoners and they definitly don't move!

as i work in the automotive industry so to speak,

we get to see all manner of pictures....

the accident didnt concern us too much...

what we were commenting about was look at the state of the steering wheel!!!!!

and the airbag didnt deploy!!!!! seat units did though...

the other puzzeler is that a genuine audi key in the ignition?? or somthing else....

trees at 90kph.... not good by any means!!

I would deffo say that is "something else" we have a few Audis at work and the keys are great big black rubber things, course it may just have broken off on the crash?

That was a smack in the mouth for sure.

Anyone here thinking of swapping their standard airbag steering wheel for something more spicy (but minus the airbag) think on.

If the airbag doesn't deploy though, I don't suppose it matters.

Forgot to add...

my m8, when the car hit the tree he was actualy thrown about 40 yds back into to road... unfortunatly he was hit by another car comming the other way... although he was killed instantly on impact with the tree according to the police... the tree did more damage than the car...

makes you think a little... ever since i always go steady on tree lined roads.. it just stuck in my head...

Thats horrible!

Think the key was probably snaped off in the impact, I managed to snap my key off with my knee when I parked my BMW in a wall at a much slower speed.

Just had a long look over the pics.

The car has had a heavy front and side impact.

The only bit that is confusing me is the front of the car - it should be further away - look at the damage to the rear as it hit the tree, it would have still been moving at maybe 20mph when it stopped.

The front end might have bounced off another tree I dont know but the other thing is I think it hit the tree airborne too.

The steering wheel damage is unlikley to have come from the driver.

Its an odd one thats for sure.

I posted the original link to the pictures as the link put on had been removed, if you have a look back at the pictures you will see 2 white sheets lying on the ground, I think you'll find coincidentally that there were 2 occupants in the car If you think about it, the steering wheel airbag will only fire if the impact is within 20 degrees of straight ahead, that car hit the tree broadside on and therefor the steering wheel airbag would not be expected to fire,
