Default Old style M5(d reg) vs MY04 Sti

Hi All

Tonight on the way home from work, i stopped to take a call, when i had finished i pulled away & this old style M5 came up my ****, so i dropped to 3rd (was in 5th taking it easy), an went for it totally blew this beemer away, came upto a roundabout, i went all the way round it so i was now behind the M5 (just to confirm it was), he went for it so did i, passed him & to be honest easily.

Does anyone no the BHP of these old tanks

Well coming around the roundabout he was quicker out of it, as i am still gettin used to AWD (had a RS focus previously) so the 3500 straight six would have pulled quicker though as soon as the turbo spooled i was on his rear

they were a straight six engine, and id say for a car made in 1987 you should be showing a bit of respect for it.

as your car has 17 years of technology ahead of it, and the e34 would trouble you more if not beat you.

I did show it respect my friend, i havent slated it, i only asked the question & to be honest it was neds that were driving it & not respecting it
I respect my own car & other peoples cars!!
It was a general observation
as for the E34, i wouldn't mind coming up against one as it would be a good bit of fun.

I used to have an E12 M535i a few years ago. I rebuilt it and was very proud of it too, fairly rare car. A bloke I knew had one of those with the 24 valve M1 engine in it and you would have been hard pressed to beat that one with a Scooby.

My Austin Maxi (tuned with twin Dellorto carbs and a ramfix airfilter) would easily keep up with ANY 80's BMW six cylinder to fifty miles per hour. When they get to the roundabouts, thats when the beauty of hydragas and fwd have its advantages I'd Still rather drive my MY02 WRX wagon though
