Default Car park wars

Jeez

Can anyone help. Today I recieved this from a young lady in a Metro (a bit of a cliche but hell it was the classic profile offender)

<img src=http://img2.photobucket.com/albums/v11/zoton/DSCF3432.jpg>
http://img2.photobucket.com/albums/v...n/DSCF3432.jpg

I was sat in the car chatting about a refund at B&Q and she first parked into the car then reversed it out and then nearly took the passenger door off in a blind panic.

Anyway what can you do?

Practically what should I do. The damage is rear bumper, alloy, scraped side wall of tyre, deformed wheel arch (great ) and nasty gash to the door skin.

I don't want a fill and spray job. I want a new door skin and arch if needed. I don't want a London Victoria approved garage just because it suits them.

I have notified both insurance companies and don't expect a fight as I was parked with the handbrake on...fairly safe you'd think.

Can I take it to my nearest quality Subaru dealer rather than paintshop? Should I do anything but drink heavily and wait for her insurers to call me?

Help appreciated.

thanks

Mark

I didn't back the national winner either.

Sickener mate

INSIST that the car goes to a Subaru approved dealer as they are the only people that can fix the car properly. I had a bump in a previous car i had,2 grands worth of damage and my fault, I knew a dam good repair shop that do a really good job and it was local but it was NOT recommeded by my insurers, but after a little hassle the car was repaired there and they did a spanking job of it, and I got a FREE hire car in the mean time. I had the car back after 10 days as well.

Good luck with the repairs mate, hope you do get the car fixed at the correct place and they do a fine job of it. Bloody women drivers and car parks just don't mix.

Had sum fairly major damage to 1 of my vehicles last year..

Called insurance company. They were gonna get recovery to "Approved" repairer.. I said no chance, wanted it to go to Manufacturers Franchise repair shop that I knew were Good.. No problem they said..
It was delivered to Repairers, next day.. 3 days later and the repairs were approved..
Sorted, Pukka Job

Moral of this story, is that you DO NOT have to get the car repaired at the Insurance Companies Approved centre.. But it might take a few extra days to get approval if it sent elsewhere..

Mark,

Take it staright to Subaru and get them to do an estimate for "proper" repair. If you can take it to another garage, say BMW or Porsche for a more expensive quote - send both tou your insurance company, etc etc.

Insist it goes to Subaru - you have a right to get it repaired anywhere within reason. As my Subaru garage said to me when someone smashed the back of my new car in - "Tell them it is coming here and that is it - they have no right to argue - it is your choice".

Stick to your guns - I have had too many sh*t repair jobs done elsewhere on other cars - go to the Manufacturer.
Hope you get it sorted soon.

Brian.

Take it to a Subaru place.

My wife had her MX5 driven into 2 years ago - it was taken to their "approved" repair shop, a big place in Bristol, who did the most appalling lash up job I've ever seen. Took it straight to the Mazda dealer who couldn't believe it... Got Mazda dealer to put it right. First place billed insurers £1000 for their shoddy work, Mazda charged em £4500 to put it right! Not bad for a scraped wing and door

The first place is being taken to court over it Good.

My Landrover was broken into a few years back and the insurance company insisted that it went to their "approved" repairer, so off it went for 2 windows, a repair to a door and a rubber strip...................

that is where it all started to go wrong, when the car eventually came back, the front component speakers were trashed due to the monkey forcing the door cards off to replace the glass, one side of the car had a huge scratch along it, door edges were chipped due to being opened against a brick wall and the other side of the car was sprayed by stevie wonder with shades on

tons of phone calls later the car was put right or so the repairer thought although they lost my new door card that was damaged during the original break in but what annoyed me the most was they 100% denied all responibility of the damage to the speakers the insurance company ended up adding the cost of some new speakers to the claim.

here's the best bit....... they are a very well known Jaguar / bentley dealership in the surrey area, quality service thanks guys

Do many (or any?) Subaru dealerships have their own bodyshops?

I can understand people not wanting to use the insurers nominated repairers. But if you insist on a Subaru dealers won't it just end up in an independent bodyshop that the dealer chooses rather than one chosen by the insurance company? Probably a lot better as the dealer will hopefully choose one that does a good (and cheap) job rather than just a cheap job.

Personally I would insist it goes to a bodyshop that I choose because I know they do a good job.

Thanks for the replies and help.

Particularly happy to hear that I can get a proper job done. Panel beating and filler is all I could see when I first catch sight of the damage. Mispent youth putting Isotope filler into Hillman Avengers!

That wheel arch is going to be a horrible job to get right IMHO

I take Chelspeed's point on the trusted bodyshop over a dealer, but I really want a proper geometry set up and Subaru panels NOT pattern parts. It is a dilemma maybe I need to put my own case for who does what.

It gets worse as the rear tyre sidewall took quite a hit and I don't want to trust it (I'd change a heavily kerbed tyre everytime). Wonder how happy they will be with a claim for new set on the rear axle?

I'm feeling 'lucky' it didn't happen minutes later when i was away from the car it seems touch and go whether people now stop and leave details.

Nate I'm in Sussex anywhere near you mate?

At the very least get a new wheel, even a small knock in a non load bearing direction could cause non-visible damage.

Zoton,

Do you mean Isopon or was your Hillman radioactive?
Good luck with the repair.

I would rather have it filled than a new door skin.
