Default Advice on new Sport Wagon

Test drove a V99 Wagon today and was quite impressed by performance considering it's little 123bhp. (Drive a Celica GT at the moment and was expecting it to be slower than it was)

It's up for £3900 124K miles with 12 months test, 6 months tax, 3 month (token) warranty with full service history.

Everything about the car looks reasonable, I know it failed its test this time round on emmissions but then passed, don't know what work was done.

Only sign of work I can see is that the nearside head seems to have been off as the metal gasket sticking out of the top looks new. The electric mirrors don't work and the tailgate lift rams dont support the tailgate. Apart from the last two which the garage said they will fix I can't see any probs

Questions is....does everybody think this is a reasonable price considering the details above??? Anybody know of problems at that amount of miles??

Thanks in advance

BTT...and next question....

Anybody know of a site containing 2000 Sport Specifications...all I can find is Turbo specs and plenty of them.

Nice of you to welcome a possible new Scoob owner so eloquently.

Sorry Mackeral, can't help but I hope you get the car you want - and I'm sure you will love it Turbo or not.

Wagons are the best

LOL, He's not a car nut, just a "Face".... Veggie anarchist musician type, great bloke though- Whitby has just lost out on the "Family Bank Holiday trip" vote for tomorrow. Looks like the "Sea Life Centre"!

He's not the guy that stands on the street corners playing bad folk music is he??? Only person that springs to mind that fits the description.

Read up on the history on your 'friends' previous posts to me...now I understand.

Sea Life Centre is cool, I'm assuming you mean the Scarborough one, make sure you get a lemon top ice-cream from the sea front too. Been told 'The Deep' in Hull is good too.

The decision on the scoob will be made in the morning.

Thanks

Mackeral

Mackeral, welcome to the forum.

I'm not sure I understand which car you mean, are we talking about a 1999 5-door Impreza? If so, some of the things you mention indicate that it's been mistreated. Damage repair, elec mirrors don't work, tailgate struts... A '99 Impreza should not be falling to bits like this. What sort of service history is there? Is it main dealer? Is it a genuine UK car, not an import?

It's a 5 door UK Wagon Sport Non-Turbo and the history is nearly full Subaru, the repair might have just been a simple head gasket scenario but it certainly runs ok. The guy at the garage has told me it was owned by the local post office master so I'm assuming thats it's not abused, certainly doesnt look abused, more family owned and not sat in a garage and has done 124K miles.
