Default What is the BHP of a 2001 WRX Import?

The Trader claims it is 280, but after test driving it, i am not so sure, it seemed REAL slow to me, there was no thrust as it hit 4000rpm like my sti3 used to, or is this just the way the new age ones drive?

Yeh its in the 240's and New age WRX is nothing like the same as classics in how they drive, its much more spread power delivery. More civilised I spose you could say.
Very hard to compare a STi to a WRX in driving style also, very different animals.

The Trader is advertising it as 280, is there any way that I can confirm that?

Also remember you are using UK fuel - 280 may be more realistic in Japan, unless it has been modified....

2001 JDM WRX = 250 PS

2001 JDM STi = 280 PS

have a look here http://english.auto.vl.ru/catalog/subaru/impreza_wrx/

Modification WRX NB, produced from 2000 (august)
Max.power (Net), kw(PS)/rpm 250 ps (183.88 kw) / 6000 rpm

Modification WRX STi, produced from 2000 (october)
Max.power (Net), kw(PS)/rpm 280 ps (205.94 kw) / 6400 rpm

Looks like he may have confused the WRX with the STi.

The standard power output of MY01-MY04 WRXes is 250ps (i.e. 247bhp), as stated above, and this is on Japanes 100-102 octane petrol. Thus, either the seller is gilding the lily in claiming 280bhp, or the car ain't standard.
