Usually a crap low end 3 series with some **** who doesn't even know what an Impreza is- especially as mine is an oh so slow estate.
I like to let them smoke off from the first atempt while I do a granny start then dish out a beasting at the first good opportunity.
At least when the Subaru owner tries it on there is a good chance they will actually have a good go.

Dunno why, but I tend to find some of the worst culprits (on the motorway)are drivers of Passat TDIs and such like!!!!
Its like, fair enough, you have a reasonably torquey DIESEL that can out pull some of the sh1te fodder thats on our roads but come on... get real

Mostly other scoobies wanting to see how they compare... either that or they just cruise along with you.
Other than scoobs, I find Fiat Coupe's or VW Polo's with body-kits have a go the most!

Mostly get motorbikes that for some reason want to ride as close as possible to the rear bumper then all of a sudden wheelie past And im not one of these idiots who thinks my car is quicker than a motorbike etc

I find that it's usually Ford Focus drivers. Since seeing the RS version beat the bugeye round a track, all Focus drivers now assume their cars are faster than all Impreza Turbos.
I've also had a few Impreza Sport owners trying to race. Not sure what that's all about? Maybe they're interested in how much difference the turbo makes to the car?
Voted for 3 series though, as there are so many racers about in these, with the exception of the fastest versions. For some reason, drivers of the M-division cars have a sensible attitude to driving!

There’s a glut of Corsa’s near me - I simply can’t understand why they don’t all fly past my WRX - especially as their kits are all sooooo aerodynamic
Had one with bits all over it come right up my **** a couple of weeks ago on a small piece of duel-carriageway just outside of leek - literally two foot off my back end. I gave it a quick blip, then slowed it right down. He floored it, built up speed and came flying past… only to see two flashes in his rear view as the speed camera said hello.
Might make him think twice before he does the same thing to someone else!

some nobber beside my today in the outside lane dual carriageway traffic lights. Dont know what car it was, small white thing, but the banging and screaching from the engine bay made me look over.
I took off at a everyday normal pace, heard this clanging sound beside me, and deduced that boyo was having a race, presumably with me as the 2 lanes went into 1 just ahead of the lights. Just put right foot down 5mm and his heap was directly behind the nur spec R
No more dustbin lid banging sounds could be heard

Sorry I don't think a previous generation 5 series counts as "nicer food" to use your analogy. More like "past sell by date" merchandise being hawked at 20% of it's original price.

fair point, my widescreen Tv, soft leather heated seats and V8 are all feeling left behind in the "up to date" race being lead by Subaru and their plastics suppliers!
T
ps- i like to think of the last gen 5 series as a good wine, simply gets better given a few yrs!
