Could any one tell me exactly what the difference is between the two engines, turbo's and ECU's. pls no silly comments or jokes...

I am thinking of getting a FORRESTOR and would like to know what options there are for getting more power out of it....

Yes I am talking about the soft-turbo forrestor

Actually I'm interested in cars on the Dutch market but - for arguments sake lets talk about UK models..

S-turbo ( uk/euro spec ) runs 177bhp with a td035 and I *think* 380cc injectors on basically the same engine as equivalent MY impreza. I'm not sure what the compression ratio is on an S-turbo, but I think it's an 8:1 on an EJ205 lump.

Swap to TD04 ( cheap castoff from impreza upgrade ) , decat downpipe , maybe injectors, then go and see EMS (he's netherlands based) for an ecutek remap .....

I think Markb1 also found out that the inlet manifold is a different shape on his 2001 UK Forester.

Different shape when compared with what, a 2001 Impreza, or a 99/00 Impreza?

Marks' Forester had a longer hose from IC to inlet manifold than 99/00 Impreza and my old 97 JDM Forester.
At first I thought it was a smaller IC but Mark then found the inlet manifold was a different shape, resulting in the throttle body being further away from the IC.

Without seeing pics it's difficult to be certain, but I'd imagine that Mark's Forester has the same manifold as the 2001MY (and onwards) Imprezas.

 

Many thanks for the information.... I was talking about the cars between 98-00 so I don't know if anyone wants to add some more.....

 

As suggested above, why not contact Mark Verhoeven at EMS or even Frank Vreede to ask what can be done? Quite sure that they have the best local experience.
