Default My Eyes have Been Opened

Got a WR 1 on order, but not happy with the dealer is keeping me in the dark. thinking of canceling.

Sick of WRX need a change, drove a BMW 330D Sport today Wow!! Loads of torque and much more driveable than a WRX, your thoughts please.

Oh and 40mpg

Just got home and was driven in a 330 ci by the wife.
It's my father in laws car and he has had it for 1 1/2 years and is very happy with it.
He sold his RB5 to me to buy the 330 ci. The car has got better build quallity than a scoob but i would not swap my scoob for it even though it's worth more.

My wife was driving coz we all been drinking! First time she has driven it and even with the semi auto box (what ever BMW call it) it drove very smoothly.

Nice car in my opinion but would not swap it for a scoob.

IMOH

6 pot, did you seriously compare the 2 cars? Didn't you notice how the BMW steering seems to be cleverly linked to a bowl of porridge & bears little relationship with the road surface?

What rubbish

Comments from people who have never driven Beemers I think.

Much as I loved my scoobs steering and handling is not their strength...

No I don't own a BMW...

IMHO

Ref to my last post 5 above

The steering on the BMW 330 ci is very responsive (sp?). that was one comment my wife made on the way home. Yes she does drive my scoob as well as her slk.

330 ci is a nice car to own and drive

Owned a BMW 333i Turbo for 10 years. Started & ran the Bristol area of the BMW Drivers Club. Have test drove just about every beemer apart from the gay roadsters.

No disrespect but a car that you have owned for 10 years is quite an old car.

Any car 10 years + would not be as good as todays cars, what ever the make.

I think 6 pot is talking about a new bmw if not new then nearly new

Maybe you haven't driven a Subaru then?

If you were talking about an Audi I would agree...not a BMW...

Nick, why have you test driven nearly all BMW's, are you a tyre kicker, or a BMW Salesman?!

As a club organiser I test drove everything at Bracknell. (Apart from the gay cars of course & the 850i which they wouldn't let me drive!)

Just a thought about Bracknell....

Why is it on BMW open days there are NEVER any police speed traps around the public roads BMW Bracknell use as a test track?

I think at the end of the day a BMW has MORE class then a scoob.
It might not be as much of an animal but the overall performace is very good.

6 pot has asked for our opinion on bmw's, we have given them but some of the comments have been a bit unfair.

6 pot, you get what you want, you will get a bit more fun out the scoob but you will feel a bit more,,,,,,,,not sure what word to use, ?upperclass? in a bmw

Buy what you want, not that i would buy a bmw, but then i'm 27 years old and the scoob is more of a younger persons car. Give it a few years and i'll prob' be looking at bmw's
Hope my last comment does not upset anyone.

Now you're talking crap. 99my Turbo owned for 3 years. WR1 on order.
No, because happily I'm not acquainted with your car ownership...

You however, are talking out of your ****, and if you have really driven those cars which I doubt, you would know it.

I am hardly BMW's biggest fan but

BMW steering seems to be cleverly linked to a bowl of porridge & bears little relationship with the road surface
is just crap.

Good night.

Hi 6 pot

Having come from a 99MY Turbo that had been mildly tuned I think I can comment on the 330D Sport as thats what I now own.

In terms of out right performance the Scooby was better, and no doubt a WR1 would be as well, but the gap is closer than a lot of people would think. If, like me you do a lot of motorway miles the BMW is a much nicer place to be. I have a manual car and it rarely comes out of 6th unless I want to accelerate very rapidly, but 6th is good enough most of the time. With the criuse control on it easily returns 43mpg+ at around 80.

The steering is every bit as good as the Scooby and ride quality is significantly better even with the 18" sports wheels and sports suspension.

There are 2 variants of the engine the older 184bhp version and the new 204bhp version. The new engine comes with a 6 speed manaul box which is pretty good as well. If you fancy a bit more power for around £300 you can put a tuning box on it which takes the 204bhp car to 245bhp and 490nm...

If you can get a car with mainteance pack then you get 60K miles worth of everything apart from tyres included as well. The service intervals are also the better part of 20K miles.

You are all a bunch of numpties

I own both a Scoob and a 330Ci...

...best experience was going to Scoob meet in BMW and catching up with cross country run for Scoobs on way to venue. And after a 'spirited' drive the BMW kept up easily with the group.

And the reality is that the Scoob should have trounced the gay beemer as it was twisty, and peeing down!!

On road performance of top end three series is very close to standard Scoobs. On track the Scoob would win given similar driver skill.

The big difference is that after three years my BMW is worth over 60% of what I paid for it...my Scoob was worth around 50% at best after the same period.

Anyway, my wife has the beemer now as I have another gay German car instead
