Just read that the WR1 has a very Evo-esque 5,000 mile service intervals ![EEK!](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/eek.gif)
The STi PPP is 10k![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
Any idea why so frequent?
I can only assume the DCCD needs more frequent attention, hence the intervals?
Are all you prospective owners ready for regular trips to the main dealer?

As well as the DCCD. It's to do with the additional loads put onto the engine by the extra power. Even though the STI is 10K miles, most people recognise this as too long and perform an oil change at 5K anyway.

One of the excuses I have been using to justify my WR1 is what I thought were going to be longer service intervals of my 98 MY

Yes and no.
There are 5000 mile services but these are not full services, which stay at 10,000 mile intervals, they're just oil changes. So the main services at the normal prices stay as standard STi and the 5000 mile services should be much cheaper.

Thanks guys...
I am just having one of those "Why didn't someone mention that before?" moments.
Yes I probably should of asked, but then I didn't go to the dealer on Saturday with the intention of ordering a WR1.....
Nevetas - Yes you have a point, just I didn't really need another car with silly service requirements, I spend far too much time chasing round the country getting various cars services as it is.
Chris L - Thanks
Chelspeed - Thanks again for the full explanation. As I said above it is not so much the cost but the time involved
Regards

Id like to see what Subaru UK have to say about the gearbox oil (for the A-DCCD) and when they are changing that, my MY03 JDM STi Spec C needs it replacing at 15k mile (20,000km) or as i see it, 1 year (7.5k service intervals still).

Of the several Sti owners I know (myself included) we all change the oil at 5K intervals anyway so as long as it is only oil should not be such a big deal....if folk are going to use the car

As per my WR1 Service Book, the 5000 Mile service is as follows:
Change:-
Engine Oil.
Oil Filter.
Inspect:-
Engine Coolant.
Cooling system hoses & connections.
4 Gas Analysis/Select Monitor Check.
Disc Brake Pads/Discs.
Operation of lights, wipers, washers.
Tyre condition and inflation pressures.
I have been advised that if a 5000 Mile service is required within one month (?) of the 12 Month service, the later need only be undertaken.
..............Unfortunately, I forgot to clarify whether this implied that the 12 Month service should be undertaken at 5000 Miles or you just wait until 12 Months!! (If you know what I mean)
