Default How much power goes to back wheels?

What is the power split on the 4WD system on a standard MY00 more to the back I would hope.

As the others have said, slight bias to the front. The diff itself has a 50/50 inate split, but the drop gears and unequal diff ratios mean that the viscous coupling biases more torque to the front than it does to the back.

greasemonkey,

this is still unproven!

we asked damian harty to confirm this and he confirmed what a lot of us thought that the final drive front and rear is the same so the torque split is unaffected by the drop gears, it is only affected by the dccd which gives 2/3:1/3 r:f. Uk cars should be 50:50 as they have a standard mechanical centre diff with a viscous limitied slip mechanism.

We have discussed this many times, and the reason for the drop gears is still unknown and prodrive havent been able to explain it as of yet.

Have a look here.

Adam, I've given this considerable thought since it first came up. You are right in saying that the centre diff unit itself in the UK cars gives a standard 50/50 torque split.

As mentioned though, the disparity in the diff output shaft speeds caused by the unequal drop gears causes the viscous coupling to "work" even under normal straight line driving conditions. It's this "preload" on the viscous coupling that causes the slight torque bias to the front. I doubt it's as pronounced as 55:45, but it certainly will be there to some degree or other.

No. Viscous rear and centre, open front.
