Am i going mad !!! Please tell me im a t*sser if this sounds crazy !!
I was out and about today in my95 uk turbo with scooby ecu fitted and a de-cat !!!
Waiting to pull on to a main road and a ferrari 355 goes past and i pulled out behind him ... all of a sudden he dropped a gear and started to boot it !! (nice sound though) so i thought what the F**k !! have a go .... and caught up with him at the junction..... again he started to boot it and guess what !! so did i ........i was right up his **** all the way to the nest juction about 1 mile......
Am i a **** for thinking i kept up with a ferrari 355 ? Or was he just playing with me ?

Seen a couple at Santa Pod running 13.8-14+secs 1/4 mile.
When they're on the move they are quick though...mind you scoobs aren't exactly slow
Imagine if you were driving the F355...would you tolerate somebody coming up you bumper when your accelerating?...I wouldn't...I would boot it harder.

Follow the 1/4 mile times down to 13.1 and you'll find the 355 ,a little bit further down is a scooby with 285bhp (i think) so yours probably kept up with it kosher as someone earlier said modded scoobys are not slow at all...

My last scoob was a standard UK MY97, and I had a couple of encounters with two local 355's.
One was a straightforward drag off the line. I was noticably quicker up to 70, but then the 355 pulled away.... and easily....
Of course, its harder to get a really good start in the Ferrari, I suppose.
The second was funnier.
I pulled up at a set of lights, alongside a transit van, when this 355 pulled up behind. Not wishing to make a fool of myself, I did my finest granny start and pulled in front of the van. Just incase, though, I left it in second, on the off chance he wanted to make an example of me
After a few seconds, it became clear he wasn't about to play, so I changed up to 3rd. At this point, the cheeky git floored it
At the top of the hill we were on, there's a tricky right hander, into a roundabout. I pulled alongside through there, and got a better exit, and even pulled away a little (I was in the outside lane). As he was drawing level though, we were fast approaching a lorry in his lane, so I backed off and flashed him across.
We went our separate ways at the next roundabout, but he smiled and waved, so I guess he had a little more respect for scoobies :;
What I think it boils down to is that the Ferarri is a fair bit quicker, but perhaps the power is more accessible (to all but the most skilled drivers) in an Impreza.

I had exactly the same experience the other week but with a 360. He pulled off a roundabout onto a dual carraigeway and I stuck to him!
I expected him to easilly pull away from me but he didnt. It sounded absolutely awesome though

There was a thread a little while ago on here from an American Ferrari owners club.
Something along the lines of......
A 355 or 360 owner was out posing with a freind when in there own words a "Subaru Rice Burner" decided to try it on. So he changed down and floored it. Not only did the WRX pass him but it disappeared into the distance

Been out for a play with a 360 before- about the same up to 120 (private road) then the 360 started pulling away with its better aeros.
Ferraris don't exactly weigh nothing- the 360 is 1600kgs iirc.
I can well believe you may have been faster but onlty up to a point

In his own words the guy on the ferrari forum:
" Got beat by a Subaru!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I hate Subaru's!!! Looked like a new WRX. That little sh*t is fast. He was on my tail going up Cold Water Canyon, so I stepped on it and tried to pull away but couldn't shake this guy!! So he finally passed me and just kept pulling away. I'm a pretty good driver but this guy just out powered me. I know there is no comparison between the two cars but it still bugs me that a 30K 4 cylinder car can do this to a 360."

The thing is the ferrari engines arent very torquey motors, if i remember rightly the 360 puts out 373Nm of torque, which is *roughly* 270lb ft. Which is only slightly above a standard UK STI.
If the power of the scoob is upped to say....300lb ft (as a PPPd STI should be), then the scoob will be able to stay with the ferrari up to the point of aerodynamics fairly easily (assuming both able drivers)
Correct me if im wrong???
Neil.
P.S. the engines put out a lot of "power" just not a lot of torque, the standard 360 have 425bhp, but only 373Nm of torque.

Just confirmed that......
go to www.ferrari.co.uk and look at some of the engine specs
Neil.
NOTE: the kerb weight of a 360 modena is 1390, which is comparable to a UK WRX, not STI

Reminds of a story a friend of mine told me.
She was out with her friend who was on a work do. When her friends boss keeps going on about his car, obviously trying to impress her. "My car's better than a ferrari, porsche" etc etc. " Come out in my car, i'll give you the ride of your life".
Finally she goes "what car do you have" and he replies "subaru impreza".
She laughed and told him "her friend Darren (me) has 1 but I'm sure he'd prefer a ferrari"
And I would, wouldn't you.
Had me laughin though, I hope he at least had an Sti.
Can't remember his name, but was it anyone on here?

No. I have only had my impreZa a couple of months.
And when I had a peugeot, used to typo it a lot.
