My first WR1 thread, 0-100 11.39secs
Autocar's 0-100-0 test and the WR1 time was far better than Evo magazines. Make of that what you will. The WR1 beat the Evo8 FQ330 to 100 by almost a second (.97 of a second)
Lovely jubbly
The old RUF Turbo(CTR, 16 years old) was stunning, 0-100mph and back to 0 in 11.85 seconds (WR1 took 16.38secs)

No and 322bhp isnt that far of 300bhp really.
Cant wait to actually see a Wr1 owner time their car individually as i cant really see it being a whole second quicker than the fq330 especially seeing as the power to weight is something like 25bhp less than the evos.
Excellent times non the less

Nice to see they for once used a normal EVO for once and not one with secret tweaks.
Pretty much confirms to me that the Scooby is an EVO eater, and for a better price. Wonder how long it is before they get a decent car at a decent price on the market ?
If only the colour of the WR1 was better.

Dont believe the Hype, with these figures 1/4 would be a low 12s for a WR1
Pie in the sky for a standard car.
To grab a second of another car in 0-100 dash you need at least another 40bhp assuming the cars weigh the same, actually the Lardy WR1 weighs a fair bit more.
The Evo figures I thought were good ones, the WR1 ones unbelievabe unless of course the "standard" WR1 was running anti-lag and a paddle clutch of course
Cant wait to be "seen off" by a WR1 in my Evo MR FQ 340
Pie in the sky for a standard car.

My 99 wrx is rated at 276bhp & its not an sti. I cant see how the latest Jdm sti with its twin scroll turbo, equal length headers, water spray, plus whatever other improvements it has can still only have the same power.

MR340 all the way!!! without a doubt!,subaru have always been optimistic with their figures, mitsi tend to be the opposite,i know of quite a few FQ330s with a de-cat making 350-355hp,and FQ300 making 320-325hp,had my STI7PPP on the RR 3 times the most i got was 289hp the least was 277hp,hmmm!! i paid for 301hp,always optimistic, didnt moan about it cause the STI still went great, but when i changed to the evo VIII FQ300 the difference was there straight away,so with the WR1 at 315hp at the very most and the MR340 with 340hp at least dont really think the WR1(which i think is great)is really going to be a EVO eater.

subaruWR1 i completly agree with you,its just that mitsi seem to have the upper hand with the MR340,its lighter by quite a bit than the WR1,suspension,some major new bilstien development, new engine bits, higher revving than currrent VIII by 500rpm,aluminium roof, the list goes on,yet the WR1s difference to a STi is Prodrive springs, and 10hp extra on the PPP,driving lights and a set of 18s,ok the MR is a couple of grand more than the WR1,but thats the 340,buy a MR320 for the same price as a WR1 de-cat it and then your up past 340 nearer to 350,not slagging the WR1 off at all in fact i think its the best scoob to date was thinking of buying one myself but went for the EVO instead, like i said before mitsi have the upper hand at the moment so subaru will have to respond to that (which is all good news for us users)but by then mitsi will have their 500hp EVO monster out.

OK granted it is better at eating fuel than a Scooby, you have a more personal relationship with your local service manager etc.
As for having to de cat a car to get a little more power than the WR1 its hardly legal. Most people spending 30k on a car are doing so because they value the warranty. A decat will invalidate your warranty and not be road legal.
The facts are that a WR1 is quicker to a ton by nearly a second. A decat on the overpriced EVO is 320 is unlikely to give it ANY superior performance.
IMHO it 100% Mitsubishi that has the catching up to do. ***** firmly in their court.

chins, sorry mate your well wrong here, the so called test was a WR1 against a FQ330,which was the EVO VIII the MR is the 8.5,which comes in 3 variants 300,320 and 340 hp,i went right into this before i bought my VIII FQ300,which i think is as good if not quicker than a WR1,so what the MR340 will do to it!!!!,dont want to start a "my cars better than yours",but the VIII FQ series is a technically superior car to the WR1,i mean you must have seen the top gear thing on the STI8PPP V audi S4 V FQ300,the FQ won that by some margin, the FQ was the 2nd or 3rd fastest round their test track,so the MR with its better suspension, lighter, more power is going to be quicker than the FQ300,so the WR1 with 15hp more than a STi PPP and a set of springs? i just cant see how that can be quicker!,lets see when their on the road i think the EVO MR will be as far ahead of the WR1 as the FQ300 was in front of the STiPPP,which was a fair distance.

Unlike IM Mitsibushi dealers in general are not as up tight about de-cats, in fact some dealers fit them for you (although they would not go on as public forum and admit it obviously) and yes they can make quite a differance to peak figures although this is not the whole story I know.
My STI 7 UY Prodrive + PPP only ever gave about 287 bhp max at G-Force, many others less, not significant unless you compare it to Evos FQ300 with the same set up that gave 305-315.
I have seen loads of New age Sti's with PPP blasting the 1/4 mile up at Santa Pod,
STI 7/8 +ppp (std) average around the 14.4 mark Terminal speed about 97-99mph.
In fact mildly tweaked (remap and exhaust) classics were far quicker
Evo 8 FQ300(std) about 13.7-13.9 Terminal speed 99-101
Evo 8 FQ330(std) about 13.4-13.6 Terminal speed 100-103
So until I see evidence that the WR1 is a huge leap forward in performance despite the 15 BHP more quoted I remain a doubting Thomas!
Oh yeah Evo mag quote 0-100 as 13.1 1/4 13.7 terminal speed 102, which is a good effort IMHO

i think mitsu will win this "contest"...they have the most to win...
for a company(mitsu motors) which is over a trillion(12 zeros) dollars in debt....the evo is their saviour....without it selling...theyll go under....
and now that daimlerchrysler has released them...theyre gonna need something to stay on their feet
