Forester STi - any opinions ?
Time for a change, and my specific criteria for the next car include:
1. At least the performance of my Impreza Turbo 98MY.
2. Proper bucket seats.
3. Fold-down rear seats.
4. Preferably 6-speed box.
5. More than 2 doors.
6. No danger of looking like everybody else's cars.
Latest Impreza wagons fail on (2) and (4), sadly, and I'd have an Impreza STi like a shot if it had (3).
However, the Forester STi as shown in this thread looks like it meets all those:
http://www.tripleplate.com/vbulletin...ead.php?t=8883
Iain Litchfield has them: http://www.litimports.co.uk/subaru/forester.html
Ok, so its boxlike and erm, ugly. Ok, I've said it, let's move on...
I'd expect that being taller it is less good in the going round corners department, but probably not by much given the STi treatment.
Opinions ?

lOOK VELLY NICE.
IF I COULD GET ONE FOR SAY £16-17,000 - I'D PUT THE DEPOSIT DOWN TOMORROW
I UNDERSTAND THEY ARE JUST UNDER £ 15 K IN JAPAN.
THINKS THE PRICE SOME WANT MUST SURELLLLY BE A MISTAKE/MISPRINT ?
SO WHERE CAN WE GET A CHEAP ONE FROM ?

This business about the price is worrying. In Japan it almost exactly 3 million yen, dunno if that is 'on the road'. That is about 14k GBP.
Since I don't know all the costs borne by the importer the only yardstick I have is how does the 3M yen price compare to (say) a JDM WRX STi which is going for about the same as this Forester here (26k GBP). If the WRX STi with DCCD is also about 3 million yen then this is business as usual, if it is a lot less then something looks wrong with the Forester price.
Anybody know ? David Hendry Cars also does the Forester for around the same price.
