P1 Prodrive brakes
#1
Started to see the first P1's on the road and was wondering...
Anyone had the prodrive brakes and compared to the originals? Worth the £1.5k?
Original reviews suggested the brakes were the weak point on the P1

They certainly seem to be proving popular anyway! When mine were first ordered a few weeks back Prodrive had run out of them!
As JohnS says, I think a lot depends on how hard you go, and the standard 4 pots are certainly good.
OTOH, I don't do that many track days (3 in 3 years, all on a MY97 with 2 pots!), so for me that wasn't the reason alone for buying them.
I got them cos
- They are incredibly powerful. Do I need that power over standard? Don't know, but they do give a strong feeling of reassurance.
- They look awesome! I always thought the standard brakes looked a little 'lost' under the 17" wheels.
Are they worth the 1.5k? Sorry to cop out, but really only you can answer that, cos it's your money .
If you are considering them, bear in mind that you can get about 400 pounds for selling the 4 pots that come on the car...
Hope that helps

I know two P1 owners who have the big brakes fitted, and two more who are going to do so!
I suppose it depends on how hard you push them, and whether you ever venture out onto the track.
