Want to fit a dawes to my td004 wrx wagon.
so i oviously need a boost gauge but am not sure what to do about the knocklink or air to fuel ratio gague? which is best? which is cheapest to fit etc etc. can i run without one as i only want to up boost to about 0.95 bar from the standard 0.75 bar.
Also when did they start putting the td005 in the UK wagon??????

Im not sure they did put the TD05 in the UK cars did they? Its my understanding that my car has a TD04 and its an 03....and it already runs at 0.95 bar as standard.(non PPP)

Different items, the Knock link and AFR gauge.
Knocklink shows when the engine is "pinking" or detonating, i.e. pre-ignition is occurring. Usually due to too much ignition advance, too much boost, poor fuel octane etc. Usually cost around £120, and 30 minute fitting DIY job IIRC.
AFR gauge shows the air to fuel ratio, which if it gets weak can run too hot and melt pistons, and gefnerally mess up the engine internals ( if 1 bit fails others may follow, e.g. rods, crank etc. ). Cost around £50 ish, and again, half an hour to fit DIY once you have instructions and wiring info.
So really, you should ideally go for both.
Why stop at 0.95 bar boost? 1.1 bar is usually safe, and fuel cut should stop significant damage if you go tooo far! ( even on a TD04! Mine is TD04 on a jap wagon, 1.2 bar boost!)
Have fun!
Neil
