Default JDM VS UK CLASSIC ENGINE BUILD

Is it me or do you tend to hear of a lot more UK engine blow ups/rebuilds
compared to JDM engines? Is the JDM engine stronger? Was it built using better parts or summot?
The problem with scoobs (especiallt JDM 100ron cars and the det debate) is that you always have a a fella in you mind telling you your engine is gonna pop! The slightest tick and your paranoid - or i am nuts!!!

I'd dissagree with that, from what I've seen Jap engine failures far outnumber uk's. Was at a well known specialists recently and 80%-90% of there rebuilds are Jap engines.

UK ones go pop... mine did

and Jap ones go pop cos folk use 95ron with no booster and run '112mph previoulsy restricted engines' at 150mph for 1/2 an hour and then ease off and then are surprised when it goes

Both prone I'm afraid

Hmmm, I bet you don't see many standard ones go bang, uk or Jap, unless poorly maintained

FSSH (including interim oil changes) with 84k on clock and as standard (at that point) as you are likely to find ....

.... bang

Guess you just lost your bet wanted

yes i have heard many people who have run jap engines over 112 for too long and then....pop. its easy to underdtand why..guess this twists round to the jdm 100 ron fuel debate.
would never dream of running my jdm wagon on anything less than optimax.
if ever i go over 112 (off the p.h of course) i only do so for 60 seconds or so.

So could we assume then that most engine rebuilds are due to lead weights in right foots and poor maintainance? I guess powerfull engines like these need good maintainance otherwise they do fail. Unlike say a little poxy 1.0 litr which can take thrash for 100k plus.

Fookin ell m8, but I did say " I bet you don't see many ". There's always gonna be some exeptions. I wonder how many others have had standard uk cars go bang?.

Thumbs up

Fair point mate ...and if I'm 100% honest it did have a magnex de-cat downpipe at the time...and ITG panel filter...but I don't want to open that can of worms again as I thoroughly (and publicly) blamed the green gunk from the ITG which WAS found on the MAF at the time... then the dealer confused me...by saying it was a shorted HT lead that caused a build up of fuel in cyclinder 2 then it finally sparked and went bang... but I ain't convinced ...

Agree that not many standard one's go bang if looked after
