thanks but i mean the jdm models (should have been more clear) as they have auto spray as standard but i dont know how it is started and is the avo spray any good-it appears to be boost stimulated -is this too little too late or good?

Sorry to hi-jack slightly - but on the UK Sti (MY 02) how can you tell if it's actually working ? It makes a noise when I press the button - but I've had windscreen washers that did that but no water came out !
Is it really only worked by pressing the button ? I thought I had seen a thread about bottles emptying in warm weather (can't find it now)

I'd press the button when stationary and see if the IC is wet.
The bottle level does go down even when it isn't pressed. You can find the spray nozzle wet and a little bit of water on the IC even though you've not pressed it.
People are assuming that its an auto system as the tank is empty after several weeks without pressing the button.
You'll soon empty the bottle after about 30 hits as it uses 150 mls per press.

I have a Sti jdm 01. I can only assume it is temp controled as it clicks the relay and sprays at different intervals. Only turned mine on once and it emptied the bottle within an hour. I have a warning light that indicates it being empty. But I will try it again tomorrow going to Silverstone drift racing.

i've got a v6 sti so presume its the same as newer ones, bob rawle told me, once ambient temp is above certain level (sorry can't remember ) once engine speed is above 3600 rpm and a few more factors which again i can't remember! but its defo not just temp

I remember reading on this net once that it is controlled by the boost pressure level. The spray was initiated automatically when the boost reached somewhere around 8 psi. The water level in the tank certainly goes down after a period of spirited driving anyway.

Spent the day with the auto spray on. It is difficult to say if any one thing has control over it. It would appear that throttle position boost and temp have all got somthing to do with the spray. Mine seemed to spray when in boost but at different temps and engine speeds and throttle positions. Sorry nothing obvious or conclusive. Great dday out at D1 Uk tho.
