After seeing hugely different reports of performance for the EVO 8 260 I was very pleased to see a guy driving a red one locally. A bit of a blat later and I have to say the old sti ppp did me proud, pulling away nicely, I must admit the EVO did look quite nice, but not as good as the look on his face......

Makes me wonder if the alleged 286 out of the box is reserved for magazines !

I've owned the WRX 03 with PPP (260ish HP) and the Evo 8 260 and the Evo is definitely the quicker car. Not as comfortable, not as good an all rounder but definitely quicker whether it has 261 hp or 285.

I would also say that it would paste any standard scoob (STI, PPP, WR1) around a track as that is what it has been set up for. On the road it would be nip and tuck and to be honest you would have to be a loony deserving of a great big ban before you managed to seperate them.

As a drivers car the Evo is in a different league. As an everyday fast car the Scoob is probably more appealing to the majority.

 

Superb - which is why we don't get bored of this "racing" - lots of testosterone you see
