Brake Upgrade survey
#1
Some of you may have seen my various postings re brake upgrades.
The more I look into it, the more confused I get, so I thought I would run a brake survey, to find out what others have got and the experiences they have.
I will collate and publish all the info once gathered, in the hope that it will help others.
What I'd like to know is
1. What upgrade you have done, inc pad types.
2. Has you taken the car on a track day? If so where?
3. Did the brakes fade, if so after how many laps?
4. Have the discs ever cracked or warped?
5. How much the upgrade cost inc fitting.
+ anything else you can think of.
So far I've heard of the AP and full Prodrive full conversions running on tracks non-stop without any fade.
I've heard that group N discs still fade.
Many thanks in anticipation.

Yeah I'd be interested to hear what people have to say.
I've noticed a funny sound under hard braking which seems to be coming from the front brakes - they have done 22k miles so maybe something needs changing?!?
I'd like to upgrade, but can't really afford whole 4/6 pot system.

1.Brembo SS kit with Brembo pads
2.Donnington (feb wasn't it)
3.No fade, just awesome stopping power with some vibration
4.Mmmm. Disks warped (hence vibration) BUT to put it into prospective (sp?) went through 1 set of standard Brembo pads and 2 sets of rear Pagid FR pads and 1 set of rear disks(200+ track miles) as I was braking rather aggressively!!!
Replaced with latest 'coated' disks under warranty and now running Pagid blues (front) and Mintex 1155 (rear) No track running since replacements so no comment yet although a number of Fast Road runs .
5. Cost. Its best I dont remember but can be found on ScoobySport web site.

Super Dot4 + goodrich hoses, Mintex 1155 all round - did work better than standard but have completely sh&gged my front discs - they're really scored and will be replaced under warrenty. However I will be changing them to grooved / drilled (when Scoobymania come back to me with a price) and changing the pads to Pagid's. The rear pads have worn a groove into the disc which is causing them to squeak , but the garage are just going to skim the edges so they stop. Oh and the 1155's are very squeaky.

I went with the other lot to Stef - Brembo from SS
1. What upgrade you have done, inc pad types.
Brembo - what came with the kit (not Pagid)
2. Has you taken the car on a track day? If so where?
Yup. Snetterton
3. Did the brakes fade, if so after how many laps?
Not at all. 90 laps 150 miles 2.5 hrs (total)
4. Have the discs ever cracked or warped?
No.
5. How much the upgrade cost inc fitting.
£1450 or there abouts
There is a little bit of "noise" under very hard braking which could be construed as "judder" BUT it does not affect either the steering or the steering wheel.
They'll do me fine

I have had vibration problems with my brembo "group A" setup. This is mainly because of warped discs... the last set warped after less than 5 hundred miles of road driving on standard brembo fast road pads. Scoobysport have replaced these discs under warranty every time they have warped.
