Bought a GEMS ecu for the car and quite fancy the idea of a side exit on the drivers side just in front of the rear wheel
The inspiration for this comes from watchin a DVD of Walter Rohrl in Portugal
Does anyone know what the legalities* of a side exit is or do i need to visit the local plod shop and be met with blank expressions of the highest order
*subject to terms and conditions written deails on request ...... other words i probably do it anyway
Cheers Grant

I've no idea of legalities, but seen a couple of side exits before and the new SLR Mclaren has side exhausts and is a production road car so why not? They may frown at flame throwers ala South African anti-carjacking measures.....

No reason at all why you can't do this. I had a side exit on my Lotus Cortina and it really sounded good.
As long as it can't be said to be dangerous to pedestrians because it sticks out you should be ok.

Only issue might be getting the pipes to the sills without them hanging down too low & then scraping on speed humps etc - manufacturers do a good job providing tunnels to run exhausts level with the floor. Close to the rear wheel shouldn't be too troublesome, but depends how big pipe you're going and what ground clearance you've got?
