not surprised mate, as misty says, it would take something with massively more power to lose the vectra on normal roads.
dunno why people find it a surprise that a **** load of cars keep up with scoobys
alot of it's obviously down to driver skill aswell, my neighbours got a 6 month old M3 (on paper the quicker car) but he can't keep up with me at all. whereas i had my **** well and truely spanked by a guy in a friggin golf TDi, i was gutted that a car with about 100 bhp less was keeping in front of me along little straights dotted with roundabouts, turns out he's an amatuer rally driver. not so gutted after learning that

People dont realise that there are a lot of fast car's out there, but like misty say's, get em on the twisty's and it's a different matter, there is'nt many car's can keep up with a scooby in the twisty's

A fast Vectra - yes!
Show it a bend in the road and it will be going sideways just as fast then, WHOOPS!, "Why am I facing the wrong way on this blind corner"????
Loads of fast cars - even old Jags BUT the Scoob can cope with the power in most situations but a lot of others won't.
However the right car with the right driver blah blah blah..........

Was playing last weekend on a private road here in Japan but I couldn't keep up with my mate. On paper I should have had no problems with my WRX Wagon (MY98, newly fitted with ALK, Pirelli P0 Nero's on 17" TE37's, new drop links, new ARB F/R) matching or beating an unmodified, 18 year old, Mk 1 MR2 (albeit the supercharged one which puts out about 150 bhp).
However when he took me for a spin I could see why, his car control was awesome.
Power alone only counts for so much and many cars are quick in a straight line. My mate was beating me in the twisties so it shows that it's not just what you've got, it's how you use it.
Postscript: still learning the limits of the car since the new bits have been fitted and some adjustments to setup still to do, so I'll have him yet
