Default Folding mirrors??

I have just put an offer in on a new house, problem is the garage is very narrow. Does anybody know if Subaru supply an eclectic folding mirror kit?
The car is a 53 Impreza WRX.

Thanks.

don't think so as standard, although it might be possible to transplant from a Japanese car. I'd also be interested if its possible.

How wide is your garage? Mine is a 70's building and it really is only just possible to fit in, and thats with only space to open one door about 12 inches. I was considering fitting a side door out of the garage to give me room to open the drivers door

The house we are hoping to buy was also built in the 70's, 77 I think.

Not sure of the exact measurement of the garage, buy it sounds about the same as yours.
If I manage to get some folding mirrors I'll let you know, I think they would really make the difference.

I know the feeling - my house is about 1986 but the garage is still annoyingly narrow. I have to put the car as close as I dare to the left-hand wall and that leaves me with a gap of about 30-40cm to climb out of when I open the door. When you factor in the curve back of the window I have actually injured my back doing it. To add further annoyance the idiots have put a brick pillar exactly where the door opens narrowing the gap still further. But I drive in forwards so the mirrors aren't an issue except to make sure I don't rip them off when I reverse out!

I know what you mean about the windows. I find it easier to wind them down first, otherwise they threaten to puncture my lungs. Frameless doors don't help.

Trouble is, then you have the fun game of either leaving the window open all night, or contorting to raise the window and remove the key once you are out of the car.

Usually I just park outside :/

If the garage is that narrow that you need to fold in the mirrors to get in to it, how are you going to open the door to get out of the car

My house was built in 66 I think and the garage is narrow as mentioned above.

The garage at my old flat was also very narrow and that was 80's built. Nobody seems to make a decent size single garage even on new builds

I just reverse in at a slight angle and get as close as possible to the left hand side wall (an inch or so). After a while it becomes 2nd nature and you do it without even thinking. Leaves me plenty of room to get in and out but have to remember not to drive straight out. Not sure folding mirrors will help.

Practice makes perfect

IIRC Garages are all built to the same measurements from the 50's, i.e. to fit a Ford Pop.

My Evo will go in my garage but I can't open the doors wide enough to get out. To put it away I roll it in and reach through window to put handbrake on!!! It has to go in backwards cos the door would hit the spoiler otherwise.

I used to have a link to a website that gave details of how to install the Japanese folding mirrors on to UK cars.

It was an in-depth step-by-step set of instructions with pictures, so it is possible.

I have just tried the link and the website no longer exists...sorry!

I think a scoobynet member called Talizman did it to his MY03 STi or it may have been him that posted the link origionally.....can't be sure. Might be worth trying to contact him.

My current house was built only 3 years ago, it has a single attached garage that is BIG. I can get round all sides of my car and polish it inside the garage.
So it not all modern garages, why am I moving!!!!!

Wish my garage was big enough to get all round.

Just about squeeze it in with enough room to get out of the drivers door, with plenty of foam on the wall to protect the door!

Are you sure it isn't a small double garage?

Thanks.
Folding mirrors tend to be standard kit in Japan. My MY98 WRX Wagon has electric folding mirrors.

Sorry, but I only just spotted that. How eclectic? Like really unusual? Or just out of the ordinary?
