Agreed.
Same with loud DV's, really loud zorsts and kickin' sound systems. My car is for driving not showing off to the local teen chavs how daft I am.

Each to there own.
I have a loud exhaust (98db) a re-circ DV (not too loud, agree with you on that one) but I have a flamer kit, not always needed but I just love lighting up the lanes in the evening.
They are on there for my pleasure, sod what other people think.

I say each to their own, it's your car so do whatever the hell you like with it.
There are certain individuals on this board who condemn anything not to their liking and it's pathetic IMHO.
Moan over.

And before anyone lays into me, I have a UK MY97 running around 330-340bhp, so I don't just do 'chav' mods

The problem with them as I see it is that a genuine high powered car is a serious piece of kit that has cost a fair few quid and flames on gearchange and overrun.
The flamer kit does similar at the flick of a switch but can be an underpowered piece of poó to achieve it.
It's pretty much parallel to a Nova sporting an Impreza bonnet scoop, leading the uneducated into believing the car is seriously quick.
Personally having had the real deal I'd feel such a goose imitating it, poorly.
Having said that, each to their own.

My Land Rover used to put flames out the exhaust quite abit, I suppose with 130bhp I could be classified as "chav"
But a stretched timing chain and knackered Stromberg carbs are alot easier and cheaper to come by than a flamer kit
(Strombergs for the rich mixture, and Stretched timing chain to ignite the excess fuel in the exhaust )
