MY 99 with possom three port valve Scoobysport backbox etc. When I change gear it seems to take a while for the turbo to get back up to speed (full tilt) not that I drive fast! Will a different dump valve cure this?

Yes I would recommend the Bailey dump valve from Power Eng. approx £90. Check their website. Fitted one recently. Seems to improve lag and also goes ppppsss when you change gear.

Pssss aside, you will only benifit from changing your D/V, if it is leaking (faulty), or the car has been modded, and the d/v spring is too weak to hold the increased boost.

As you have a Possum, it's very possible that the standard D/V is bleeding off.

As for re-circ' V dump to atmosphere, well some cars seem to be ok, and others suffer badly with the Bailey, ect'.

If you want a very good reliable D/V (fantastic quality, looks brilliant), and Pssss is not an issue, Speak to BR Dev's about the Forge re-circ'. If you want Psssss, do the above, and get an induction kit.

Pssss, is just that.........HOT air.

Yeah exactly what I was told, leave the noisy dump valves to the R5 gt turbo herberts

R19KET.

That sounds interesting. I wouldn't mind a dump-valve upgrade if it is going to enhance my performance, but I've never really looked into it because I don't want that psssst sound (personally, I find it a bit "Max Power"). Are you saying that this Forge item improves performance but using the same re-circ method as the standard quieter item?

I have'nt got a dump valve or an induction kit and mine makes a loud 'pssstsccch' when relasing. A lot of people have commented on it being similar to a dump valve. The noise was louder when I removed the covers behing the grills on the bonnet.
Sounds good but then again, my scoob could be broke (or it might be the blow off valve issue on my model?)

Cool

RON, you'll cause hot spots by removing the grilles...suggest you put them back or space them a bit!

I have a VERY modded UK MY99 and had Branko fit my Forge MS recirc dump valve last weekend. Well worth it, esp if you have Link as you're running higher boost. It doesnt go psssssst....it goes br-br-br like the WRC ish sound (or so i am told). Its amazing how soft the std valve is in comparison. The car is much more responsive thru the gears.

Well worth the 141 notes -

As Mark suggested, you could also fit an induction kit but beware the constant sucking sound can get on your wick after a while. I had one, and got rid in the end.

I fitted the dump valve on the recomendation of PE, who advised that the Baileys valve is more efficient than the standard one on the earlier Impreza...mines a MY96. This may not necessarily be the case with the later models. I have experinced a definate reduction in turbo lag....and I like the psssss.

Stratman,

So you don't like SSSSSSSSSSSSSS, but like PPPPSSSSSSSSSSSS, Hmmmmm, fair enough .

'96 D/V is a right sod. Tiny thing, and you either need to modify the spring (SOB) or try a Bailey type valve, PPSSSSSSSSSS .

Just to really throw a spanner in the works............I don't use a dump valve
