Default She's left me........

I am now officially scoobyless!
Car has been picked up this morning by a fellow ScoobyNet'er.
So it's back to driving the Citroen AX diesel for the time being!
The best performance mod I had was jumping into the AX and then back into the Impreza!

So what now.....?
STI Type UK?
WR1?
Evo?

I quite fancy the STI PPP but if there's a revision to the interior in September it would be a shame to miss out but then again it means waiting.
It seems to get a mixed reaction on here, some love it, some hate it. I drove one and loved everything about it apart from the high driving position.

My missus likes the WR1 (ooh isn't it a lovely colour!) No love it isn't. But do I really want to spend £30k? Errrr.........No! Do the extras justify another £5k over and above the STI?

Evo, hmmmm, the darkside, no local dealers so maybe not. Is the performance really that different to the 2 above in the real world? I suspect not. I've never been in an Evo so don't know what the interior quality is like but I assume it's typical Japanese stuff.

Any thoughts or comments??
I've more or less made my own mind up but a little feedback never hurts!!

I'm looking at changing mine too - I'm planning to test drive a JDM STI next week. It's not only a better car than the WR1 (twin scroll turbo etc) but also has the revised interior and is four grand cheaper. Seems like a no-brainer, unless I've missed something.

Ok, what about resale value? Most people avoid imports when buying 2nd hand for various reasons.
S.B. what car is it then????? I've left my anorak at home!!

I test drove an Evo FQ-300 (the car in the pic, I believe!) last week.

Pros: Exceptionally sharp handling, precious little turbo lag, surprisingly tolerable ride
Cons: Characterless engine, constant exhaust drone, chassis fails to come alive unless it's being thrashed. Really hard work, all the time.

I felt that the car was just too single-purpose to have as an only car. Most of the time I'm not thrashing it along B-roads, I'm queueing in town or wearing out motorways. The STI PPP was much more interesting and involving more of the time, even though in terms of outright ability the Evo tramples it in every area.

Resale values are a good point - but if I save £4k over the (inferior) WR1, even if it sells for £4k less in a few years' time I'm still ahead. I plan to keep the car for a few years so it's not something that concerns me greatly.

Now I just have to work out exactly which STI I fancy

Andy- fair point but is a JDM STI @£25k better than UK with PPP for £25k bearing in mind the JDM could possibly be worth considerably less come time to change?

Mm... Japanese scooby...

Don't tell me you're not just a little bit tempted to do something rebellious - give rip-off Britain the bird and get a better, cheaper product for once

Congratulations on a successful sale, did you get your asking price?

My missus likes the WR1 (ooh isn't it a lovely colour!) No love it isn't. But do I really want to spend £30k? Errrr.........No! Do the extras justify another £5k over and above the STI?
IMHO, yes.

STi - £25k
PPP - £2k
Wheels - £1800
Suspension - £400

Already over £29k, so for just £30k, you get WR1 with DCCD (mmmmmmmm) along with the other extras, plus unique colour, limited run, stronger residuals (theoretically)

Go for it!

Talizman- Just about, put it back to standard, sold it cheaper and flogged off the bits!!
Ice blue just doesn't do it for me frankly. A very weak colour to do such a car in. IMO!!

Lol - I'll try

The JDM car is just a much better drivers car, period. I've had the chance to drive and be a passenger in a lot of UK Scoobs and this thing is just on another level, from the instant grunt of the Twin Scroll turbo to the insane power oversteer you can have on demand. I wasn't at all convinced until Bob Rawles standard JDM STi made my UK WRX with 295bhp and a grands worth of suspension look like a toy After that I just had to have one, I don't see me changing this car in a hurry though. It looks like a UK STi but goes like a FQ300 in standard trim.

Yes it may be worth a few quid less come sale time but that is by no means certain. Look at how STi5/6's are holding their value compared to the early UK STi's.

Besides it comes with all this extra stuff over a UK STi PPP. Twin Scroll Turbo, Equal Length Manifolds, Nitrid Crankshaft, Revised Inlet System, DCCD-A, HID Lights, STI Quick Steering Rack, STI Front Strut Bar, RE070-Spec C Tyres, 8250rpm Red Line, Rear wash wipe & Smoked Rear Door Glass, Revised instument cluster.

There, that will do for now

Nathan..

Im Home.

Im loving the car mate . I took it to the petrol station and filled her up with NUL then took her through the car wash Needed a good wash. but my rear view mirror looks different now.
The car drive like a dream but the only problem Im having is the ride. Its a bit weird coming from a family car. I think I broke my back.
Also made my girlfriend a bit sick.
Iv put the car away now until monday but only just got it in the garage as the car was a bit wide. Might have to loose weight

I tried the evo fq330, it was ok but had a very high drivers seat that wasn't height adjustable and i like to drive with my *** a few inches off the ground, so i didn't buy one.

Can you confirm that the JDM car has ABS and airbags, same as the UK car?

Also, does the dash show the DCCD setting? I can see the indicators in the STI 5/6 dash but can't see where it goes on the JDM STI instruments.

Ta, Andy.
