Is PPP worth the money ??

Is PPP worth the money ??
For PPP it costs what, about £1600 ?
What do you get for that ? Approx. 40bhp increase in power, a new exhaust and a few other bits and bobs and a re-mapped ecu....oh and a bit of paper stating youve had 'PPP'.
IMO its alot of cash for what you get.
Its a shame Subaru and Prodrive cant follow Fords pricing on performance upgrades.
My local Ford dealer is also a Motorsport Department, having been there a few times with my mates escort cossie for various work, i can assure you for £1600 you would get a hell of alot more than a 40bhp increase!
Take a look here at some of the work they offer, bearing in mind these upgrades start from as little as £700!!!!

Whats your views on the price of the PPP, what should a reasonable price be ?
Or should you get more power for your money ?
This isn't about whos best or whos right and whos wrong, its just what we, the customer think.
Cheers
Marc.

Have considered this one myself, as £1,600 does seem a lot, hence I have not done it.
Having said that, from the comments on here from those that have had it done, they all seem delighted which suggests it is money well spent.
If I had the cash - I would get it done!

Hi,
IMHO having had both a non PPP'd car and now a PPP'd car, the difference is fantastic and just makes that grin even bigger - the car is significantly different.
While PPP does seem expensive compared to other alternatives, do bear in mind that you warranty remains intact. And to me that peace of mind is worth it !!!

The ppp upgrade, being as you say £1600, not only gives you various modifications to your car it also will raise its selling price/desirability. So you may be spending £1600 initially, but this is not dead money.
The example you have used for Ford, seems to be primeraly for Cosworths, and i cant see any prices on the site. This also looks like a localised operation, and possibly something that cant be done at any ford dealer, unlike the ppp upgrade(?). I would like to know what upgrade packages Ford do for their new models, as you havent been able to buy a Cosworth brand new for many years now.
The ppp whilst maybe not as competitively priced as it should be, is the only source of modification allowed by the Subaru warranty. At the end of the day if you feel the ppp is overpriced then get modifications outside of IM, or dont but an IM car in the first place

Tell me - what was the price of modding a Cossie when they were new, rather than 15 years down the line?
Please go fishing in another pond please.

I knew jack about Subaru mods until I found SN. To be honest I knew jack about the cars except they were quick and on the whole pretty reliable. I ordered my car from new with PPP for these reasons;
Warranty & Performance
Certainly not on price. £1600 is a lot of money but this makes the car what it should be out of the box and thats what I wanted
I don't regret a single penny as compared to any other marque you still get a lot more bangs for your buck

Don't mean to side track you blokes but im looking at UK models with there warranty run out. Is the PPP pack still a good option or can i get that same performance cheaper now that i don't have to worry about the warranty?

hmmmm old gits hey ! (does 34 classify as an old git ? )
I take the point of Dan69 (above) that if your car is out of warranty then PPP may not seem the right choice.
However, as for newish cars, its not just 40 bhp, its more pulling power, new back section, decat pipe (for cold start cat which is removed), new intercooler pipes and remap ecu.
If you are paying over 20K for a standard WRX (with bits added mind you) then I'm personnaly happy to pay an extra 1600. If on the other hand you are paying say 8000 for a 9 year old car I can see that 1600 on top of that is a large proportion of the total price of the car and therefore there may be better solutions.

If you just want 'Bang per buck' then it is certainly isn't best value.
Why waste £3kish extra on a "UK Warranty car" in the first place. Then save £500ish and lose the warranty !!!!!!!!! which IMHO is dafter than me Throwing £2K to a Dealer.
Surely it's cheaper to buy an Import, save £3k on car + £500 on 'The' Mod. there again I'm old and and stupid
IMHO AFAICR etc.

It is a choice, no one is forcing anyone to have the PPP done. If you think its good value ( as I do ) then do it. If not then don't. Simple really.
If you think that way then everything is a rip off, I mean my mobile bill is £120 + per month, thats £1500 a year for sending a few electrical signals through the air. But I look at it that its £4 per day to be in permanant contact with my family, freinds and importantly business associates, so its a bargain.
Its the same old thing really people do not understand, like when you work for someone else and see the boss driving around in his Merc while you do all the work. What you dont see is where he has his house guaranteed against the £100K overdraft, the sleepless nights worrying about where the next order is coming from to pay his staff. Taking no salary himself because his customers dont pay their bills for three months.
Who pays for the dealers workshop, reception ( I am sure you sit there and drink the coffee ok ), electric, business rates, staff, insurance, maintenance on the ramps, etc etc etc. By the time you take the vat out, the cost of the parts used, the labour time, the develpment costs and all it really is not that expensive.
Get real.
