Default Does your tracker work?

A couple of months ago, my scoob had to be brought home to Herts from N Yorks on an AA recovery vehicle (don't ask!!).Although it is fitted with a Tracker, and the keys were not in the ignition, I never received a call to query if my car should be moving.

When I phoned Tracker a week later they said it must have a fault so they sent an engineer to check it out. I had to phone them again to see if it had been sorted, and they assured me that their engineer wouln't leave it unless it was OK.

It appears that there is no way that a vehicle owner can easily check to see if their Tracker is working, which then begs the question, how many of us are running around convinced that we are protected in the event of theft, when, in fact, the unit may be duff?

Not really very satisfactory IMHO

Other than putting it on a trailer, how do you test it?

I also had no way to check. Then I had a break down far from home. The car was moved several times (without me) before it found it's way back home and I got a call for everytime it was moved.

I know mine is working, but its a dilema. How do you know that something designed to be totally silent, secretive and quiet is actually doing its job (being silent, secretive and quiet)?

Thats exactly what I did...and they found it..couldn't tell me what I was parked next to tho, which really would have impressed me

Tho,I tend to agree with Yoza,if my car is stolen then I dont want it back

..but, *what if* it is stolen and without the tracker device activated?(i.e,subscription fees not paid)

Wouldn't the tracker company be obliged to inform the Police of its whereabouts,as they would be able to locate it??

Default quick check

I too also was usure if the device was fitted correctly after being told by the company that fitted it that they would charge for an engineer to come out. I had no trailer to put it on so called tracker out and they tested the install and that all was working ok. Waited for the guy to say that will be £50, but I was not charged a penny. If it goes missing then at least I have a record that they came out to check it and they said it was working. Give them a call if at all worried.
