Default Difference between STI04 and the new STI05?

Hi,

I have ordered the new STI05 that will be delivered to Europe in late September this year. The dealer couldnīt update me on the new model just that the interior had been updated.

I visited www.subaru.co.jp and I saw the new interior and also that the wheels was new and increased in width.

Do any user here have information about the new one i English? Are the traction upgraded etc? What more is new due to the STI04

I heard a rumour that the new one will have Active Yaw control like the EVO VIII, but I havenīt found any information about that.

I canīt tell You how much Iīm looking forward to September right now :-)

Regards
Johan

Rumours of Active Yaw and increased width have been mentioned on this site.

The different PCD wheels will almost be a certianly (Maybe) LOL

even rumours of a 2 door and soft top

There is a review of the JDM one in the latest copy of EVO magazine.

;-)

A 2-door New Age STI wouldnīt be bad at all. Due to the emission laws here in Sweden Subaru couldnīt sell the STIīs manufactured before year 2000.

So I looked both at the new EVO VIII and STi04, but I didnīt like the EVO. The EVO VI was really nice but the new one i plain ugly.

When the dealer told me that the 05 would reach Sweden this fall, there was no discussion what car I wanted. I really like the boxer engine (former Porsche driver) and there is a lot of potential in the machine if the stock h.p isnīt enough.

The JDM car will be different over the MY03/04 JDM STi's, engine remains pretty much unchanged, breathing and cooling are both changed though (engine internals are the same as the previous year).
You wont see any of these enhancements on the euro car, sorry to say peeps, this is for the japanese market only, the only way you will get one is to buy a grey import

Doh!! :-)

So it means that the new 05 only has a facelift in the interior and is the same car like the 04 in the internals and externals.

Nope, they are the same spec, 265ps, 305ps with the Prodrive Performance pack fitted. These cars dont have the A-DCCD like the JDM cars (the only one that has had this is the WR1/Solberg edition) and even then it looked like they skimped a bit as the JDM cars have suretrac front, mechanical rear, the solberg/wr1 has suretrac front and rear.

Ok,

But the dealer told me that the car will have the DCCD. So itīs must be a special edition to Scandinavia. The Solberg Edition was sold here and it contained as You said the DCCD. I hope for gods sake that the car i bought contains the DCCD, that was one of the prior things that made me wait for the 05 instead of bying the last Solberg in Sweden.

The Solberg Edition was available in Blue, Red and Ice blue metallic.

The STI i ordered was available in Blue, Black and a new colour i think it was a yellow type of colour.

There are also rumours that the 05JDM's may have new system for Intercooling, both indirect Air and water cooled. A mixture of topmount and Legacy systems.

The engine internals on the JDM MY05 are not the same as 03/04. The new car has AVCS on both intake and exhaust cams and is controlled by a more powerful ECU - this is where the extra torque comes from. I'm not aware of any intercooler changes, although the JDM car's water spray tank is bigger than that on the Euro STI.

The JDM '05 car also has a new helical front diff, Spec C suspension geometry, and a new G sensor as part of the DCCD-A system (this is the thing that the Evo article refers to, incorrectly, as a yaw sensor).

The WR1 doesnt have a suretrack rear diff, it uses the same transmition system as all the DCCD-A equipped cars with a mechanical plated rear LSD.

OK,

Anyone know what type of tires the car is fitted with? Petter Solberg edition had the Bridgestone semi-slicks from the factory. Expensive tires and they donīt last a whole summer if You drive inspire...

Any idea when the STi05 (UK Version) model will be released over in the country?
I'm after getting a new STi04 in Sept and don't know if to wait.

I don't think anyone actually knows what changes will actually make it onto the European car at all, never mind when. I've heard a lot of speculation, but nothing backed up by a reliable source.

You could do what I did and order a JDM car...

Got a PM from a user with a tip to check out the finnish Subaru site www.subaru.fi

If You look here You can se that the Scandinavian version of the new STI has the DCCD

http://www.subaru.fi/prislistan.shtml

So it looks like my dealer has right about the STI05 that i ordered :-D

The same thing was with the old EVO VI. In Scandinavia. The version that was sold here was the Tommi Mäkinen edition. The Tommi edition contained a threathment underneath the car to prevent rust and several other things to meet the climate in Scandinavia.

:-)

Just spoke to Iain Litchfield - Europe is getting DCCD as an option, plus the longer wheelbase and new interior, but none of the other JDM upgrades (which apparently do include a bigger intercooler).

Why want a bigger stock intercooler when You go front mount after some months

When You say longer wheelbase. Is the whole car longer than the old. Or have they just moved the front and rear axles?

As far as I know the have moved the mounting points for the front wishbones giving it the same wheelbase as the spec C.
