Default Esso super unleaded

Hi,

Just wondered what peoples thoughts were on the above as an alternative to either Optimax or BP Ultimate?

Mine likes a mix of Esso Super and Optimax. It gets a flat spot on optimax alone after about 2-3 tanks. WRX03 PPP

Anyone got any opinions on the Q8 super unleaded it's 98ron? Don't notice much between that and optimax. Only 1 shell station in area plenty of Q8's.

I'd deffo use the Esso SUL over the BP Ultimate. I had a Knocklink fitted to my last Scoob so I tried the BP Ultimate and others.

Optimax = 1 green light
Esso SUL = normally 1-2 greens, occasional 1st amber
Texaco SUL = 2 greens, occasional 1st amber
BP Ultimate = regular 2nd amber and occasional red.

Not scientific but I know which petrols I prefer.

Nathan..

50/50 mix of Esso SUL and Optimax, with a dash of booster... and a twist of lemon

Had 3 counts of Knock on the Link with texaco SUL last week within 15 miles - shame there's no one to check the grade of petrol without it costing me money to get it tested - and no-one at the garage capable of understanding English when I went back to ask/complain

After Optimax the Esso is the most consistent fuel, BP Ulytimate is pants and I would rather run out than use Texaco, had similar but very serious issues with it to Richard ie mega det instantaneously after fill up even on relatively light loading. Apart from Optimax everything else is 97 ron in the UK afaik. If its a 98 ron true super then the Q8 should be better than Optimax.

hi, i was speaking to a well respected scoob tuner the other day and he told me not to use silkoline pro boost(as i had been doing) with optimax as it actually reduces the ron rating, millers is fine and pro boost is fine with other petrols. jus thought it was worth mentioning

Pretty much the same results as Nathan , on a UK MY00

Ultimate is absolute sh*t, I ran with a tank, and thought I had somehow managed to convert my knocklink into a night rider kitt car light

Not a twist a lemming as well?!? Sorry just been watching Monty Python...
I think i'll just put Esso SUL in as I can't find any Shell garages round here and it's about 4p per litre cheaper than Ultimate.

Oh i ment to add to the original post that it's for a MY04 scooby, if that makes any difference?

No difference at all.

At the end of the day your WR1 has a brand new 3 yr warranty. Unless you're going to start tinkering with the setup you should be fine on Esso SUL.

Nearest Optimax garages are.

Thnax Nathan,

I'll go for the Esso, the shell garages are a bit far away from me, i'll use half a tank of fuel on the trip to get some Optimax!
