Question Looking after a WR1 ?

Hey everyone,

I'm a potential scooby newbie and I'm test driving a WR1 tomorrow Found this board a few days ago and have been reading threads like "Is it ok to cane a scooby?" and the responses with interest.

Basically looking for any advice you'd give a (hopefully) new WR1 owner?
any mods you'd look to do?
does it also need/you recommend optimax and octane booster ?
will it really be a bottomless pit ?

btw also test driving a nissan 350z tomorrow
but I'm pretty sure I know whats gonna give me the silliest grin

love these little faces

How do mate

You'll find this board a fountian of knowlledge

Only real advice needed about the WR1 is BUY ONE!!!!
Does need oil change/minor service every 5k.
Don't really think it needs mods at the moment but have noticed a few saying they've fitted a strut brace. Only thing i've done is mudflaps(think most have).
Don't need octane booster as its not a jap import.
350z is a nice car 2 but the wr1 will make u

Cheers Gee. Thats pretty much what I was hoping to hear but would rather hear it from other owners rather than the salesman. How often to service it was gonna be my next question so thanks again!

I've seen the strut brace mentioned a few times but having driven a succession of company Vauxhall SRi/GSi/Turbos I doubt I'll be disappointed with the WR1 setup

Clive the Brave has a Prodrive strut brace on his. It looks lovely and he reckons it improves the turn-in, not that it was bad in the first place...

I think Iain M has one on order too.

Congratulations! You won't be dissapointed.
The WR1 is a head turner also

So you didn't fancy buying MK Subaru's demonstator then?
Since my test drive they've tinted the windows. Looks pretty

Having finally run mine in I can honestly say if you get a WR1 you won't be disappointed . The acceleration is truly mind bending (comically fast), and although I thought the car understeered badly when I was limited to 4000rpm, all I can say now is WOW. If you start to run wide, more power and the car tucks back in and just goes where you want it to.
Don't get me wrong, I'm no track day wizard, just your ordinary average driver, but just point the WR1 where you want it to go and the diff sorts it all out and away you go. Fantastic.

Blobster

PS. It does however seem to attract flies to the bonnet and windscreen like you wouldn't believe.

Yeah I ordered tints for mine aswell. They wanted full price for the demonstrator but were 'throwing in' the tints and the road angel (which went off during my test drive). MKs a great place for test driving

On another note, can anyone local to Beds/Herts tell me where they get their cars serviced ?
I've searched the BB for Luton and found theres loads of scooby owners on here - the 'was that you?' section is great! To any locals, I'm up Stopsley way.

If you're interested I think there are a few remaining. The demonstrator vehicle at MK Subaru is around number 398 (I think) and they got that in about 3-4 weeks.
Each dealership gets an allocated amount to sell. Once they're sold they won't be able to get anymore but that doesn't mean other dealerships have sold all theirs.
I went for my testdrive first thing in the morning and they had 3 other people booked in after me and one of them was from Scotland! Apparantly he couldn't find a dealership closer that had any left.

Yeah you're not kidding!
My previous car was a Civic Type-R so this is one hell of an upgrade.
The Civic got the odd insect down by the front grill but this car is like a wall. The front of the car and the windscreen gets absolutely smothered.

Checking under the bonnet confirmed my intercooler had been turned into an insect barbeque
Anyone got any tips on how best to remove these critters from the intercooler? I was thinking of picking them off with tweezers but this could prove pretty time consuming.
