Subaru have never heard of the pile it high, sell it cheap business philosophy. I would estimate manufacturing costs to be below £150, so if they sold it for around £600 they could have sold hundreds by now, and made a very tidy profit. Instead they've probably sold 4 and made about £2k
It's always been the same though. I remember a magazine in the early 80's working out how much it would cost to buy all the component parts for a Ford Cortina and build it yourself. IIRC it was somewhere in the region of £250k
When you consider a new 04 WRX can be bought for £18.5k, you have to wonder how anyone can justify £5k for an engine, £2.5k for the airbag system, £1.5k for a spoiler etc. etc. I bet the component cost now would be over £0.5m. Anyone care to work it out

I would be surprised if you can buy parts for a 22B from a UK subaru dealer with a 22B chassis code.
Subaru are not in the market of selling parts for other owners to buy to modify their own. These are meant as spares for the real owners!

Colin,
If you go through the dealer expect in excess of £1200.00
Know someone was selling one on here recently (an original one) and he wanted £850.00 for it!
Jap Innovations do a 22b replica for £400

laser,
Couldn't tell you about the quality. Only saw them in pictures that Rich Wild forwarded me though he did say they were nice bits of kit. Never went for it in the end stuck with the sti6. They do look nice though.
