trumble ... do what I did - lower your price and accept that you're going to make a loss and you'll have 15 calls within 24 hours and the car sold within 48 for cash!
Everyone prices their car up first time - I just decided to accept a loss and take account for the bartering down people would try and do and set the price low. Guaranteed sale that way!
Or you could just pay for the biggest huge advert available and make the price a little lower than you orginally intended. That's how I sold my first car - again within 48 hours.

sold mine this week after months on here, and about a month on autotrader.
Ended up taking 13k.
Car is literally mint, 30k miles, 52 plate, morrettes, uk300 lip, eibachs, the newer style 03 wrx wheels with new tyres, brand new discs and pads, Sti flaps, mats and quick steering rack.
First to see bought it, but it took months to get someone to see it!

And it's worse
It's even worse for circa MY99 models I really took a hammering when I PX'd mine against a nearly new Mazda 6.
Effectively 7000 for a sep 99 turbo, 64k miles no aircon.

Its not that I want to make a profit - jsut not too much of a loss - when you buy a new car you accept it will be worth significantly less when you drive if off the forecourt.
Am I asking too much at 12.5K given the spec ? See the add

That is quite a low price!!
Buy a huge add in Autotrader (£90) and take 1k off the asking price - see if you get any responses. Remember you don't HAVE to sell it at that price, just see if it is the price doing it or whether the buyers just aren't interested in the car.

I was in the same position mate ... needed to sell for my WR1 - ended up selling MY98 Turbo (with modifications and a cherished plate) for under 5700 - as I said though it needed to be sold and that's all people wanted to pay for it. Annoying but the loss was worth it as I get to drive around in a WR1 now

I dont have to worry about that - the bloke down the road has a WR1 so I'm sure they'd nick that first

These new lower prices on car supermarket etc cars, are really having a knock on effect.
I feel sorry for those who bought a new bug eye a couple of years ago for around 20k.
Losing 8k in two years must really hurt
I bought my MY98 two years ago with fssh from a scooby deallership for 11k.
I have spent a few quid on it, but dread to think what its worth now.
Good job i'm not selling

On the other hand if you are buying its pretty good. I picked up my bugeye from Subaru for under 13k with low milage and an excellent history.
Still got my trusty R plate golf in the garage though. Seems no one wants them no matter what the price!!

I find it ironic that I get 14 replies to this question - but none for actually buying my car !
Its not the loss thats concerning me too much - I only paid 18K as I bought when they were trying to shift the last of the bugeyes.
I think I'll put another add in autotrader.

It terrifies me to think that I paid 16,000 for MY98 nearly 4 years ago, ok so I had a few extra's put on it, but god knows what it is worth now, It's only done 48,000 from new

Trumble, maybe there just isn't a strong market for the bug eye car? And those huge fog lamps make the converted bug eyes look out of proportion to the car in my eyes.
No offense intended, I just remember there being quite a backlash against the look of the bug eye, and maybe people are after pre and post bug eye cars, unless it appears a total bargain. Just a thought. Looks like a top spec none the less.

I kind of like the large driving lights with the morrettes (they make a massive differencein the dark) - but have to agree the original bug eye lights are awful.

there was a report on teletext this morning saying new car prices have dropped 9% in the last 5 years, and used cars dropped 25% in the same period.
Think the issue with bugeyes specifically is down to a combination of things@
- new shape available, nearly always hurts residuals of the previous shape
- pretty good economy and lower new car prices means more people buying new
- too many used cars + above point = used prices dropping quickly anyway.

Its ok buying from Motorpoint etc. But, I checked when I bought mine last year and they only offer 12 months warranty, and they are imported from Europe. Got mine from a main dealer, couldn,t afford any warranty problems as the wife drives it for work.

wrx turbo new model03
went to trade in my wrx turbo with 9000 immac miles on it 2 weeks ago and got offered 14,000 for it, it's immaculate, ok needs tyres soon, but was shocked at what i was offered after paying more than 20,500 for it 12 months ago!

Took me 5 months of constant advertising to sell my V4 Type R. It was in mint condition and only 38k from new. It's one of the reasons I wouldn't buy another Subaru (that and the fact I'm buying a 911 )
My mate has had his MY97 waggon up for sale since Feb again, excellent condition. Used scoobs seem to be as popular as a dose of the clap.
The drop in price has made them a chavsters dream. I cringe every time I see a bog rat in a scoob, unfortunately not an uncommon sight
As soon as they reach the 7-8k price range, scoobs should be destroyed to save the reputation (I think that ship has sailed)
