Headlines in today's newspaper was "MMC plot comeback; Analysts still unconvinced". Make of that what you will.

Volume sales.
Why the heck cant Mitsi get more cars into the UK at adecent rate?
They could make an absoloute mint with the EVO cars.
I waited 6 months and could still not get a test drive at my local dealer - by the time an FQ300 arrived it was sold so I couldn't drive it.
Idiots!

It would appear that MMC and dealer's themselves prefer to make their money from selling and servicing the Shotguns than they do from RalliArt machines. This attitude seems to be visibly evident at the majority of dealers that I've visited, too. There are exceptions, of course, but they seem to be few and far between. If you find a good Ralli Art dealer that's interested in having your business then stick with 'em, they're a rare breed.

Went round to my local Mitsubishi dealer yesterday and he said they are struggling to shift 260's even with the free servicing etc. People are not interested in these, I guess they may look on it as the poor man's EVO rather than a cut price rocket

Not very impressed with it out of the box, but potentially a very good piece of kit once the £1K discount and a couple more are thrown back at it...

I think the 260 is hampered by its gearbox, and the fact that you cannot rev it beyond 5k with the clutch dipped. This makes for pretty tame take-offs, but I expect once its rolling its pretty quick.
But I do think other people on this thread are right - anyone wanting to buy an Evo doesn't want a watered-down UK version and they would rather spend the extra on a FQ or MR with decent power.
I think the car was aimed at the non-PPP STi buyer, but in effect its direct comparison is the WRX PPP which offers better value for money and day-to-day usability, IMO.

I have a new sti and love it. I was put off the evo by the fact that they keep bringing new ones out all the time and that probably has some impact on the poor residual values of the mitsubishi. Nice cars though but not as nice as scooby's.

I've not driven an Evo, but the common concensus appears to be that the Scooby is the better all rounder and has more character. Also has more kudos being the car that Colin McC and Richard burns won the drivers titles in and is better established in the UK. This probably accounts for its stonger sales.
I'm not sure that the fact that the UK Evo has less power than the JDM would deter buyers, as Scooby owners get the same deal! You could probably easily restore the Evo260 to 280bhp
Best.

Also tried a evo fq340 and that was something else... bit pricey though.. also had a go in the new a4 s4 but was a bit slow.. :-) its between the spec c and the evo... dont want to leave the fold but the evo was awesome.
