Black Subaru - Theiving petrol in Uckfield - could you come back and pay please...
At 4:50 this afternoon a black Subaru with clear indicators and gold wheels(trying to post a pic to compare....?) nicked £50 of fuel from me at Shell in Uckfield, East Sussex.
Unfortunately my member of staff authorised fuel to him even though he had no registration plates, although most of the time the plates are fake anyhow...
Anyone had theirs stolen from around here?

Well first of all - deduct your staffs wages as im sure the protocol these days is to pay first!
2ndly - if the cars nicked aint nobody going to benefit from you posting that as its probably been ragged and burnt.
3rdly a car with no plates?? check if your staff knew the geezer!

On the increase apparantly. When I filled up at my local recently there was a sign on the pump saying that if you weren't a regular customer you may be asked to prepay. I enquired as to how they identify the regulars, and was told that I was regular as I wasn't 17, wearing a baseball cap with a scarf around my face and driving a 12 year old Nova. Cashier also said the last one they'd had was a blobeye Scooby Apparantly it was rife in Bradford, but police there now have APNR cameras on all main routes around the town and have managed to catch many of the main offenders. Rest of them now come to Leeds for their fuel
Good luck in finding the scum.

On Regent Road in Manchester they have mini Gatsos in front of all the pumps
You should shoot your staff for letting someone have 50 quid of petrol without number plates on

Hi guys,
Just to clarify - the sales assistant involved knows his mistake but that really isn't the issue hereand is not why I posted the thread...
Just an off chance that someone on here might have seen it or had it stolen.
It was £47.71 worth - 53 litres. He sneaked off quietly under our eyes as we were working in the shop.
Easyrider - I have my head out of the curtain everytime I hear one now, but there are a few guys local who own Subarus.

Sorry to hear this mate - my wife mentioned that she saw this exact car at 4:50 at the bottom of uckfield going up the high street (no plates - not to be confused with another black scoob that's in Uckfield most days (reg ETC)).
I guess CCTV wouldn't even help as no plates !
Will keep eyes peeled.

Thieving scum, with blag velco number plates, filling up with baseball caps covering their faces from your CCTV, even de-badging their cars and filling up at night so the flouresent forecourt lighting confuses the cashiers...
"What colour was it ?"
"It was red, or greenish, bluey, yellow."
"What make and model ?"
"I dont know, it didnt say."
Hate them, ******* hate them.....they are stealing 80 odd pence in every pound from the government in Tax, now thats not on.
And the poor petrol station owner loses out, that is if he is stupid enough not to be insured against the "fill and burn" brigade.
I hope they catch them soon..

For some years now this has become a common practice. My Student son earns some pocket money serving at a local supermarket filling station. "Drive Offs" as they're called, are a frequent occurence even in this quiet backwater ....
Extremely busy station, with about 20 pumps and three petrol pump guns at each. With customer choice of either paying at pump or at kiosk, along with only two counter staff to cater for a continuous and incessant stream of cars filling up, it would be impossible to monitor every activity with so few staff. Maybe total 'drive offs' losses does not exceed the cost of additional staff to cover this crooked behaviour so they run the risk ...(bean counters have got much to answer for!). Why do soo many establishments fit inadequate CCTV which only give a very poor picture resolution which is often of little help when trying to identify those responsible for more serious crimes. Despite huge numbers being deployed, CCTV cameras are NOT a deterent. More widespread use of effective picture resolution would have an impact on and deter those who currently get away with these criminal acts, irrespective of whether they're on camera or not..they are aware of this and take advantage. Being caught is THE only effective deterent!

Drive offs (or bilking) ceases to be an arrestable offence once the vehicle has left the PFS.
Doesn't stop a little information marker going on PNC for the next time the vehicle comes across an ANPR set
We don't have to go to the *******.....they come to us

So, making off without payment (Sec 3 Theft Act 1973) is no longer an arrestable offence, even though it was made one last year?
You'd best get back to your books

Chris has to find the money to replace it and when you make about 1p for every litre of fuel you sell it takes a while.
