Default First Subaru Purchase - Help Required

Hi all. Apologise for possibly repeating a thread but I am new on here and I need some advise on purchasing my first Subaru WRX.

Firstly, where is the best place to purchase a Subaru from, main dealer, Motorpoint, Virgin Cars or Litchfield Imports? I've looked around and Motorpoint and Virgin Cars seem to be the cheapest but there cars are imports with UK specifications and I believe from reading some threads that cars that are imported to these places potentially have a problem with the chassis not being undersealled. Is my understanding correct? I believe that if the car is imported from either Malta or Cyprus that the car will not be undersealled but if it imported from Holland or Belguim then the undersealling is not issue? Is this correct? Is there any documentation I should request to see to confirm it's place of origin or whether the chassis has been undersealled?

Secondly I believe there is also a difference in warranties depending on your place of purchase. Am I correct in saying you get 3 years with a main dealer, 2 years if purchased through Virgin Cars and 1 year with Motorpoint? Why are the warranties different if they are all new Subarus?

Also looking on the Litchfield website, it is shows that a MY04 is dearer than a MY05 despite the MY05 being a later model, why is this?

Has anyone recently bought a car through a main dealer who can give me some idea of a price I should be looking to purchase at? The deal being a cash deal.

Are there any problems having a Subaru import when it comes to servicing and warranties when taking the car to a main dealer?

Do the main dealers still offer 3 years free servicing or has be deal ceased? How much is this worth over 3 years?

And finally, is the second hand value of an import greatly different from one orginally puchased from a main dealer?

Apologise for all the questions but I am hoping someone can help me.

Thanks

Scoobie elf....

What a lot of questions I just wonder where you are in the UK ??

Flame suit on but I'd visit your local Scooby dealer first to see what's on offer, for what price. My Local Scooby dealer is very errrrr..........Scooby friendly

OK he needs to make a profit but looks after you very well

Ask to speak to Ian

Most areas have regular meets where you can actually have a look at the cars and decide what you like, I have a real soft spot for the Bugeye but you might hate it !!

Hope this helps

Your right about virgin and motorpoint warranties, but the Cyprus/Malta thing is incorrect. As they are now part of the EU, as long as the car is UK spec, then it's no different to any other uk spec euro import. The underseal thing is nonsence (sour grapes IMHO).

Alliance Car Imports: WRX, FULL uk spec, 3 yr Subaru warranty, you're the first reg. owner (virgin/motorpoint your the second), the car comes with UK certificate of conformity and is reg. with Subaru UK (IM), 12 mts tax (Virgin 6mths) all for £16,495 !!! (5dr £16,795). They have great endorsements from Top Gear, The Times etc... and even Clarkson himself.

I've done a lot of reasearch into this recently and as a result expecting my new WRX anyday! Can't wait.

And no I do not own or work for them!!!

Default buying from supermarkets

I did this for the last car I bought and just remember that you can't have it both ways....I took a 2-2.5k hit on the residual for the car at trade in because it was a parrallel from a supermarket and believe me I asked everywhere. Consider this on balance to the real cost of the new car and for me the main dealer worked out best however....not a lot in it.

Thanks for all your advise.

Just one last question, why is a MY04 dearer than a MY05 at Litchfields?

Exchange rate changes and slow webmaster The MY04 should have been removed by now. We have sold quiet a few MY05 WRX's & STI's so if you want to look at one we normally have them around.

I just checked and it says MY04 top-spec STI is £26,495 and MY05 is £26,995. Are there different prices in different bits of the site?

If I was to buy a car through litchfields who are import specialists, do I have any problems with VAT or is that all sorted? Also does the car comes with UK certificate of conformity and is reg. with Subaru UK (IM)?
