new car now ordered - made me laugh!
After weeksof hagling my M.D. had just ordered my new lease car WRX PPP Saloon when this email came back from the lease company...
"A couple of points I wanted to make you aware of concerning the above car order.
We have been advised by the supplying dealer that Subaru will not allow them to order and fit the Prodrive Performance Pack until the car has been registered, otherewise Subaru would have to have a Single Vehicle Approval Test carried out.
The dealer has therefore suggested that the Pack is fitted at the first service.
Additionally, the CO2 rating for the standard car is 219 but this will increase to approximately 290 when the Performance Pack is fitted.
Although the fitting of the Performance Pack does not invalidate the warranty the dealer advises that it will affect the fuel consumption reducing it from 32 mpg to 26 mpg (approximate figures). They also recommend that super unleaded fuel should be used."
I thought oh no, I've been rumbled and expected to lose the PPP because of the extra cost to the car and also the extra cost in insurance and fuel etc. He asked me what a PPP was, is it a rocket or larger turbo he enquired.
But no, he still gave them the go ahead...now I just have to wait until 24th January to get my first Scooby. Only 3 months left of the prison sentance in the Audi before all hell lets loose!

Prison - I will explain....
I've got an Audi A4 1.8T, it's been a pain ever since I got it new just under three years ago. I should have guessed it was going to be a problem car, when the dealer rang me up just before christmas and said you car has arrived sir, but unfortunately it has a large dent in the wing! Ever since then it has suffered with Audi garage PMT, every month it goes back for something else to be repaired or replaced! 70,000 miles on and I can't wait top get rid of it and go back to Japanese. SO therefore it seems like a long prison sentence before I get my Scooby in Jan 05.

Hey Speedking, I got 32.75mpg on a 350 mile run to Devon in an 03 WRX PPP recently. I tend not to speed on Mways as A. they're boring unchallenging tedious means to an end, and B. it's too easy to get caught.
A mate of mine was telling me recently about a trip he does weekly in his 03 STi PPP. He's always gone at it like a bull at a gate, achieving around 22mpg and taking 2:30 door to door. Feeling rather content and at peace with the world after the birth of his daughter, he set off and maintained 70mph the whole way. Not only did he average 32mpg, but he got there in 2:15 I believe Clarkson recently confirmed the same phenomenon.
Although, when I go up to the Dales 22mpg is good going

speedking - that's exactly what I thought. When I had the stadard WRX on demo overnight, a 100 mile cross-country round trip didn't even return 20mpg! God knows what it would have been like with PPP fitted.

You'll never get anywhere near 32mpg. I average 19mpg when commuting and best ever is 23mpg on the mway (03 WRX PPP).
If only everyone didn't think that BMW's are driven by tossers I'd probably get a 330d next; autocar had a chipped one with over 400lb ft and 260 bhp.

I've had over 30mpg out of my MY02 WRX (decat up-pipe, sports cat exhaust, ECUTEK etc) - 370 miles on a tank anyone? Probably ~300 miles of that tank was dual carriageway/ motorway driving. Keeping close to the 50 limits where they existed (guaranteed camera spots), but otherwise always significantly faster more than speedking's 60mph - call it "keeping up with the normal flow, whilst minimising any chance of receiving points for speeding", if you understand me . When I've been doing long journeys, I've averaged 27-28 over multiple tanks.
Before I get accused of driving like a granny, I have also averaged well under 20 on some tanks - where there are no motorways and several more "entertaining" roads.

From: North Yorks, MY03 PPP, now run a Mondeo ST TDCI 06
PPP improved my petrol consumption too, from 24 average to 26.
Dealers haven't a clue what they are talking about. Not suprising really, as most of them don't own Impreza's, so how would they know if the MPG went up or down after PPP.
