will a legacy turbo engine go in a 1993 wrx

Default will a legacy turbo engine go in a 1993 wrx

does anybody know if a engine from a 1995 legacy turbo go in to a 1993 imprezza wrx , and would the wrx intercooler work on it , as the legacy as a water intercooler ??? cheers kirby32

Yes is its the EJ20 engine. Ps i think especially at low speeds the legacy charge cooler works better. After a hard day out mine is always cold to touch!

cheers comper , what i wanted to do was use the legacy engine but with the imprezza wrx intercooler will the air intercooler of the wrx work with the turbo of the legacy, and will i need the legacy ecu aswell mate. the legacy engine is a ej20 looks visably the same apart from the intercooler . tell me what you think mate cheers kirby32

Just a question, but why would you want to use the legacy engine. An sti engine would be far more powerful, and would have solid lifters rather than noisey hydraulic ones.

ive been offered a good 42000 mile legacy turbo engine , and am on a bit of a budget at the minute so thats why, what do you think . can it be done

Kirby 32 are you sure its 42,000 mine was over 100,000 when I sold mine. Close deck engine very resilient apparently.

Yeah it can be done, its most likely had a rebuild, as mines had one and its now at 55k after rebuild. Yeah do it why not, the wrx intercooler will fit, but i would consider using the chargecooler as they are very efficent for standard cars.

some basic head differences though if you swap to impreza turbo and intercooler will work no probs with impreza ECU.............

as above most of these are now in excess of 10yrs old so the mileage looks suprisingly good..................our "chase car" is in excess os 120K with just fresh oil/filter............

sorry to hijack,but whilst on the subject (and the people in the know seem to be here),anyone know if a twin turbo legacy 95 engine will fit a wrx 95 also?
